NBA Special: Brandon “The Natural” Roy is back for the Portland Trail Blazers
Brandon “The Natural” Roy of Portland Trail Blazers has been declared medically fit to rejoin his squad just three weeks after his double knee surgery.
The 26-years-old forward was seriously injured in a 107-87 defeat to New Orleans Hornets at New Orleans Arena. He added just one basket and then left the game limping badly and wincing in pain on his previously injured knee. Roy
walked off the court, went straight to the locker room, and never returned Portland's bench.
The 2007 NBA Rookie of the Year, Roy underwent a successful arthroscopic surgery on both of his knees last month. Team physician Dr. Don Roberts performed his surgery.
There was no timetable for Roy’s return after undergoing surgery, as it does not appear likely that the Blazers will ask him to rush back to the court. However, he followed the doctor’s advice with full patience and finally he
is all set to return to action.
Three-time All-Star guard Roy is very excited to join hands with the Blazers, as he should be back playing with his teammates by this week.
Roy stated on Monday, “For sure against Detroit (Sunday), and maybe for Toronto (Friday), I am excited. I feel pretty good.’’
It was Roy “Daggers,” receiving praise for a career-best 52 points in the Trail Blazers' 124-119 victory over Phoenix Suns during the season 2008-09.
“I think this is by far the best offensive game I have had,” “I can’t say the basket was big, but my confidence was huge tonight. I just felt like every shot I took was going to go in,” Roy stated.
Brandon Roy made the Garfield High School and University of Washington basketball programs proud as he is averaging 16.6 points, 3.3 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game in 23 contests the season 2010-11.
The Portland Trail Blazers are 17-11 without Roy this season. Anyhow, Roy is back and competent, as he wants to win and get this team to the playoffs.
The confident Brandon said, “I would rather come off the bench right now and get my legs and feel back,’’ “ My biggest thing is to get ready for the second half of the season, so we can make a strong push for the rest of the year,
because we are right there at that eighth spot.’
