The Grizzlies Memphis snapped an eight-game winning streak for Portland Trail Blazers in Memphis by beating them at FedEx Forum 86-73. The attendance was quite low as only 10,467 fans witnessed the third consecutive victory of the home team.
Big names of the game
Zach Randolph of Grizzlies led all scorers with 25 points and grabbed 20 rebounds. Rudy g*y posted 16 points and O.J. Mayo added 14 off the bench for Memphis.
Only three Portland players scored in double figures. Wesley Matthews scored team-best 18 points in the loss. Andre Miller ended up with 14 points, nine assists, and six rebounds for Portland.
First quarter
The Grizzlies played the first quarter fantastically and established a base with a 5-points lead 23-18, heading into second.
Rudy g*y scored nine points in the opening quarter for Grizzlies.
Second quarter
In the second quarter, both teams struggled early from the field, but Memphis got enough control on the visiting team to push the lead to 11 early in the second.
The biggest eye-catching moment came on Mayo's 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Memphis a 49-42 lead at the intermission.
Third quarter
In the third quarter, the Portland caught fire and erased the halftime advantage, opening the third quarter with a 13-4 run. However, the Memphis managed the situation with back-to-back baskets and a 3-pointer from Mayo.
With the clock running down, the Memphis committed half dozen turnovers, which allowed Portland to hold Memphis to only 12 points in the quarter.
The Trail Blazers carried a 64-61 lead into the final period.
Fourth quarter
The Memphis were right back into the game in the fourth with the help of eight unanswered points.
With just over 7 minutes left, the Grizzlies eventually rebuilt the lead to double digits when Greivis Vasquez hit a 3-pointer, 82-70. Portland were unable to threaten the outcome in the remaining time and the Grizzlies stamped 11th victory of
the season.
