Coming to the end of the experts list of the most prolific and extravagant point guards in the NBA, we will be closing our list with the 8th, 9th and 10th positions. Though the players that are discussed here are in low positions but by no means should their skills be underrated, as they are undoubtedly the most talented and skilful men in the history of the game that the fans and others have witnessed.
Moving on, the 8th spot in the experts list is occupied by a man who had a 13 year professional career and played for the New York Knicks and the Cleveland Cavaliers, Walt Frazier. A career that saw him become an All Star seven times, six time All-NBA team selection and Seven-time All-Defensive team selection. This talented player was able to come up with 2 championships to his name and managed to come up with career statistics of 18.9 points per game, 5.9 rebounds per game and 6.1 assists per game. Walt is regarded as one the best players in the history of the New York Knicks and is said to be the King there. This along with the fact of him being extremely talented not only made him the great players of the game but also a Hall of Famer.
Though he is overlooked when it comes to the big stage, as he put up one of the greatest performances of his career in the 1969 NBA Finals, where he managed to score 36 points, 19 assists but no one seems to remember it as it should have been according to experts. No matter if he is underrated or if he is overrated, reports and experts all direct towards the fact the Walt is undoubtedly one of the best players in the franchise who managed to achieve a lot of respect due to his skill and talent.
Gary Payton comes in next, bagging a huge 17 years of professional basketball career. Gary recently retired in 2007, following two years in Miami Heat. Gary was part of many big teams like Seattle Supersonics, Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics and finally Miami Heat. The Nine Time All Star, one time Defensive Player of the year and nine times All-Time NBA team selection was able to come up with 1 championship to his name. He was able to come up with decent career statistics, during which he managed 16.3 points per game, 3.9 rebounds per game and 6.7 assists per game. Reports and experts say that Payton was a little selfish during the later part of his career going for increasing his career, so that he could reach the Hall of Fame glory, which he hasn’t managed thus far. This extravagant player’s talent and skill could not be ignored also due to the fact that he was the only point guard to win the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year Award. Moreover, experts say that it would have been a few positions up for this player if it were for him winning a few more titles.
Last and another active player in the NBA, Steve Nash comes in at number 10 with his 14 years of professional career, during which played for Dallas Mavericks and is currently playing for Phoenix Suns. During his career, this extravagant player was able to become an All-Star seven times, become the MVP two times and seven times All-NBA Team Selection. He hasn’t been able to win a championship as yet managing to come up with 14.6 points per game, 3.0 rebounds per game and 8.3 assists per game. Steve Nash is second best passing point guard in the NBA and is able to exploit the players to such an extent that they become great players from good players. Coming to the NBA stage, Nash exploded with loads of talent though the coming years of his career were slow but yet defined him as one of the best in the business.
