NBA Special Report: Best point guards heading into the 2010-11 season (Part 3)
Coming to the conclusion of the list for best point guards currently in the NBA heading into the 2010-11 seasons, we will also see the name of the NBA’s top point guard as well.
John Wall is one of the rookies and a young talent who already has a lot of expectations from the fans. Standing at 6’4, Wall is one of the athletic players in the NBA and has explosive speed. The thing that puts him ahead of the rest of the players in the NBA is that fact that this young and talented player is able to rise up to the occasion when it comes to fast breaks and open court. Running up and down the court tirelessly are some of the qualities that this player has and which makes him a sensation though he is only a rookie. If Arenas was to be put alongside John Wall, then the two would form one of the best defence and one that would require a lot of skill to get past. The only problem that this player has is that of shooting, his shots can be horrible at times and he is a bad free throw shooter. Not only this, on the offense, his turn-over rate extremely high. If he manages to take these flaws out of his game, then he surely can be one of the best point guards and maybe also Rookie of the Year according to some experts.
Tyreke Evans of the Sacramento Kings, the reigning Rookie of the Year is also in the list of the great point guards after having a terrific rookie season. The player managed to come up with statistics that were somewhat impressive for them during which he averaged 20 points, six assists and five rebounds per game. However, he is an excellent player but he needs to work on the true point guard skills, as to make other players in the team play rather than driving himself. Last season saw him come up with great things, which without a doubt showed that he is not only a talented player but also a terrific playmaker as he proved last season. When it comes to one on one, this extravagant player uses his quickness to blast past the defenders using his skills and strength. Experts say that this player needs to improve on his shooting abilities a little as well, as the three-point shooting. However, the way this player has been developing and each game witnesses an improvement in the game, experts say that he will surely become one of the best in the business.
Chauncey Billups, of the Denver Nuggets is a very experienced, talented player in the NBA. Billups is specially known for his skill of pin point passing to an open teammate even though he is a mile away. Being experienced, he likes to be in the middle of pressure and then comes out of it. Though he is old, Billups is still among some the quickest point guards in the NBA. An excellent free throw shooter he is, also a tough defender who uses his strength to muscle out opponents.
The top of the list is occupied by the New Orleans Hornets man Chris Paul. Experts say that he is the best point guard of the NBA. Paul is an excellent distributor of the ball and while delivering the ball he comes up with something creative each time. Paul is one of those point guards, who has a lot of belief in his game that enables him to battle his way past even the best centres and big power forwards. The quickness in his game is a key thing that enables him to turn and at once get past the opponents. Not only this, Paul is also one of the best defenders on the game, though he needs a little improvement. His defensive qualities can be seen from the fact that he holds the record in the NBA for 108 game streak of having at least making one steal.
