NBA Special Report: Boston’s Paul Pierce and Spur’s Tony Parker crowned “Players of the Week”
The Boston Celtics’ inspirational forward Paul Pierce who has reached the 20,000 point plateau this season and the San Antonio Spurs’ French guard Tony Parker were named the Eastern and Western Conference
Players of the Week, respectively, for their outstanding performances in the week spanning from Monday, December 13th to Sunday, December 19th.
Paul Pierce
Pierce had one of the best weeks of the season so far. The phenomenal forward spearheaded the Celtics to a 3-0 clean sweep as the men from Boston continued to ride high
on a red hot 13 match winning streak. Pierce posted a triple-double and two double-doubles on the week, with an average of 21.7 points, 8.7 assists, 8.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game.
He started the week with a match winning performance in a cliff hanger against the New York Knicks, notching up 32 points, 10 rebounds and four assists and more importantly
hitting the winning shot with 0.4 seconds left on the clock to keep the Celtics streak alive. He then followed it with 15 points wrapped with 10 assists and five rebounds in a 102-90 win over the Atlanta Hawks and finished the week in style with a resounding
triple-double against the Indiana Pacers.
In his first triple‐double since the 2005‐06 season Pierce recorded 18 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists to go along with four steals.
Tony Parker
Tony Parker was the best, the west offered during the week. The 6 ft 2” guard who has hit the ground running this season continued with his excellent form as he averaged
25.7 points on .564 shooting to go along with 8.7 assists.
During the period under the spotlight, Parker led his team to a 3-0 run and was third in the conference in scoring and fourth in assists.
Parker’s most prolific performance came against the Memphis Grizzlies on December 18th as he poured in a season-high 37 points on .714 shooting. The superstar
also roped in 9 assists as he provided the Spurs enough firepower to squeak out a 112-106 win. His 37 points were also the most scored by a Spur this season.
Parker who has won this honor for the fifth time in his career produced 24 points, nine assists and two rebounds in a 113-112 win over the Denver Nuggets on December 16th
and tallied 16 points, eight assists and three rebounds in a 92-90 win over the Bucks as the Spurs rounded off a week, where they managed to barely cross the line in each game they played.

The duo of Pierce and Parker prevailed over the elite group of nominees featuring stalwarts like Detroit's Tayshaun Prince, Los Angeles Clippers' Blake Griffin, Miami's
LeBron James, Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, Portland's LaMarcus Aldridge and San Antonio's Manu Ginobili.
