NBA Special Report: Greatest Point Guards in the history of Los Angeles Lakers (Part 2)
The top two players in the list of the best guards in the history of the Los Angeles Lakers are mentioned here. These players have come to this spot with no ease but only with constant hard work and loads of patience they have
been able to cement their position as the best in the Lakers.
The 2nd spot in the list of greatest guards in the Lakers history is Kobe Bryant. This extravagant player brought his talent to the Lakers as a result of a trade that took place in 1996 sending the Lakers centre Vlade
Divac to the Hornets. The deal resulted in becoming one of the top ten amazing and successful deals in the history of NBA. This was supported by the fact that Kobe emerged as one of the greatest talents of the game and guided the Lakers to a lot of success
and is still managing to do so.
Kobe is another of the Lakers players who has achieved a lot during his time in the Lakers and according to experts, still has the potential to achieve more. This extravagant player has been able to bag five titles with the Lakers
and also come out with two MVP NBA Finals awards. This splendid player was also able to win the MVP for the regular season during the 2008 season, in which they lost the NBA Finals to the Boston Celtics.
This player has been able to make it into the NBA All-Star team 12 times and has been able to become two times scoring champion as a Lakers player. This extremely talented player this past season was able to pass the great Jerry
West and become the greatest scorer in the history of Lakers. Coupled with this fact is that Bryant has been able to make his way into the All-NBA First Team and the All-Defensive First Team eight times. Another thing that this player was able to achieve was
that he was able to become the second highest scorer during a game that saw him score a huge 81 points putting him behind Wilt Chamberlain who scored 100 points.
The top spot without any doubt and unanimously agreed upon by experts is occupied by Magic Johnson. Experts say that Magic Johnson is not the best guard in the history of the Lakers but he is the best point guard in the NBA who
has no match to date. The spectacular player was drafted in by the Lakers as an overall first pick in the 1979 draft pick.
The impact of this player on the league was immediate as this player was able to come with the NBA title in 1980 which was the very first season of his career. Being a rookie in the NBA this player showed a lot of class and was
regarded as a player with perfection in his game. The same year saw this extravagant player win the MVP Finals award and he also, without a doubt, fulfilled the injured Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s place.
Johnson is another of the Lakers players who achieved a lot during this time that saw him win four more titles during the 1982, 1985, 1987 and 1988 season. Not only this, Magic Johnson had been able to make his way into the NBA
all time assist list and maintains his position there as the fourth player. Coupled with these is another one of his achievements that he won the MVP for the regular season three times.
One of the greatest things that he is remembered for is that he was a part of the journey that he and Larry Bird travelled that ultimately resulted in the revival of NBA at the time when it was suffering decline.
