NBA Special Report: Houston Rocket's Chuck Hayes is out for 2-4 weeks due to ankle injury
The Houston Rockets got some very bad news when they learned that the team might have dodged a bullet with forward Chuck Hayes’s ankle injury during the practice session on Tuesday.
The Rocket’s will have to live without their starting power forward in the near future as Chuck Hayes is out for at least two to four weeks with a sprain of his right ankle. It was no doubt a painful moment for Houston squad that Hayes had to leave practice
in a wheelchair.
"He's our best defender inside," "It's going to affect our whole rotation,” said Rockets coach Rick Adelman.
Standing 6'6", Hayes had an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and an X-ray, and after a thorough examination, the team said that the injury is a “moderate to severe" sprain.
With Chuck’s injury, Rockets coach will have to adjust his rotation. Brad Miller or Jordan Hill will replace Hayes at the starting line-up.
"I've just got to go out there and defend my best," "Whenever my opponent pump fakes just try to stay down. There are many bigs that I am going to be guarding out here that can manoeuvre, do a lot of good moves. I've just got to go out there and play
hard and defend," stated Brad Miller.
Hayes has played eighty-two games during the previous season and he played the first 31 games of the current season.
Hayes has started 20 games in place of centre Yao Ming, when he lost to a left ankle injury at Washington on November 10, 2010.
Houston Rockets lost its previous match against Miami Heat 125-119 at Toyota Centre. However, Hayes did all he could as he contributed 13 points and 8 rebounds in the defeat.
Currently, Hayes is averaging six points, 5.9 rebounds, playing 21.5 minutes.
"It's like anything else: other people are going to have to step up. However, he is a guy you put him on a guy and do not worry about it. That's going to be a real difference for us," said Rick Adelman
