NBA Special Report: How the eight wins came for the sloppy Cleveland Cavaliers
With LeBron James firing on all cylinders, the Cleveland Cavaliers enjoyed their most successful five-year stretch from 2005-10. The Cavs were prolific during the season 2008-09, finishing with a record of 66–16 - the most win
in a season in the franchise's history. They reigned at the top of league in the regular season, the very next year as well. But, it all went haywire as soon as LeBron James decided to take his talents to the South Beach.
If anybody thought the Cavaliers were going to fall into a trap after James’ departure, those people were right. The Cavs are now 8-45 during the season 2010-11 as they have lost an NBA-record 26 in a row. Even more stunning, they
have lost 35 of the last 36 games.
It is not a difficult task to review the victories of Cavaliers during the current season hitherto, as they are just eight in number.
1.         Boston Celtics: 95-87
The Cleveland Cavaliers opened the post-LeBron James era with a hard-fought 95-87 victory over the visiting Boston Celtics at the Quicken Loans Arena. Cavaliers forward J.J. Hickson contributed a game-high 21 points while guard
Daniel Gibson came off the bench with 16 points in the home victory.
2.         Philadelphia 76ers: 123-116
Cleveland put on an all round display to win their second game this season with an impressive 123-116 victory over the host Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center.
Five Cleveland players scored in double figures that night. Anderson Varejao played like an MVP (Most Valuable Player) with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Daniel Gibson scored 22 points while Mo Williams ended with 22 points for Cleveland,
who snapped their two-game losing streak.
3.         Washington Wizards: 107-102
The Cavaliers posted their second straight win with a 107-102 victory over the host Washington Wizards at Verizon Center. Cleveland's Mo Williams posted a game-high 28 points in the victory.
4.         New Jersey Nets: 93-91
Cleveland stretched their winning streak to three games, topping the New Jersey Nets 93-91 at Prudential Center.
J.J. Hickson played well as he registered team-high 18 points and 10 rebounds while Antawn Jamison had 15 points and 8 rebounds for the Cavaliers.
5.         Philadelphia 76ers: 101-93
The Cavaliers put together one of their most impressive performances this season with a 101-93 victory over the visiting Sixers at Quicken Loans Arena. This was their second win over the Sixers in the season. Cleveland received
a team-high 18 points from Daniel Gibson and an unexpected 13 points from reserve forward Joey Graham.
6.         Milwaukee Bucks: 83-81
The Cleveland Cavaliers rolled onto an 83-81 victory over the visiting Milwaukee Bucks at Quicken Loans Arena in front of 20,562 home fans. The victory snapped Cleveland’s three-game losing streak.
Mo Williams led the Cavaliers with game-high 25 points while guard Anthony Parker played his best game of the year, scoring a season-high 14 points on 5-for-10 shooting.
7.         Memphis Grizzlies: 92-86
The Cavaliers continued their home dominance as they crushed the visiting Memphis Grizzlies 92-86 at Quicken Loans Arena
Mo Williams continued his mid-range shooting display, finishing with game-highs of 25 points and 12 assists for the victors.
8.         New York Knicks: 109-102
Cleveland snapped snap a ten-game losing skid as they beat the New York Knicks 109-102 at Quicken Loans Arena.
Mo Williams paved the way for the Cavaliers with 23 points, 14 assists, and a big game-tying floater with 3.7 seconds remaining in the final buzzer. Antawn Jamison added 21 points while Anderson Varejao had 14 points and 17 rebounds
for Cleveland.
