NBA Special Report: Is LeBron James over-rated? (Part 1)
Once LeBron James decided to make a move and become part of the Miami Heat, this player came across a lot of criticism. Some said that he was a winner; some said he was a loser, while others said that he was a quitter who left the team that highlighted his
career.
Each to his own, currently this player is part of the Miami Heat and here it will be assessed whether this player is overrated or not.
One of the extreme charges that this player had to face is that of being one of the most overrated players in the NBA. The sports blogs say that this is due to the fact that this player has great talent, skill and abilities that make people expect a lot
from him. When the expectations are not met and the statistics are not overwhelming, the player is accused of being overrated in NBA.
LeBron James has had the best of 29 points, 8 assists and 8 rebounds which clearly do not fit into the resume’ of a player of his talent. If you compare this to players like Larry Bird of the Boston Celtics who is a Hall of Famer, these statistics look nowhere
near taking him into the Hall of Fame or even any achievement during the course of this career.
Though the Cleveland Cavaliers made it into the NBA Finals in 2007, but by no means was LeBron responsible to carry the Cavs into the Finals, in fact it was the other way around. LeBron’s statistics during that particular season were not so impressive. And
NBA gurus say that he was depending on players like Larry Hughes and Daniel Gibson. These players, on the other hand, delivered 25 points in the last quarter in the game against the Detroit Pistons. According to experts, top players in this sport usually step
on the gas at the end but LeBron seems to fail at the end. LeBron drastically failed and still fails during the final quarters of the game, which by no means is the characteristic of a great player.
This is one of the reasons as to why analysts come up saying that the Miami can never be LeBron’s team but will always be Dwayne Wade’s team. Though the Cavs team in 2007 was said to be the greatest but if LeBron continues to perform the way he did during
2007, analysts say that he would be no more than a side-kick to Wade in his new Miami team.
LeBron’s collapse during game 5 of the semi-finals of the Eastern Conference shocked the NBA world. Critics believe that the player was exposed that day as an over-hyped player. Not only this, this player has always been a second man rather than being able
to stand out ahead of the others. And his future in Miami heat does not seem to change any time soon.
What the analysts say as to why LeBron cannot become a great player is that when his teammates Antawn Jamison and Mo Williams were outscored and abused by the Celtics, all he did was just stand there. Players like Michael Jordan would have stepped up to
the challenge but LeBron didn’t. Experts say that this is due to the fact that this player is a second man who always depends on others. What could have made him being among the best, if he would have stood up leading the team from the front.  He should have
tried like Kobe or Jordan to make 60 odd points and defend his team like the legends managed to do.
