NBA Special Report: Is LeBron James over-rated? (Part 2)
Hence it is clear that when Boston Celtics humiliated the Cavs, LeBron wasn’t able to do anything. This player had, without a doubt, an impact on the team. The result of this impact saw him being regarded as a leader by his teammates and the fan base. LeBron
not only was expected to stand out ahead but also guide the other teammates along the way. But since he didn’t do that, the Cavs suffered heavy failing in the department of shooting.
Out of the many shots they hit, the Cavs managed to score only 15 points. Such was the impact of this player’s response on the team. The team, when saw this player crumble and panic went through the same, resulting in defeat for them. This was a pathetic
performance, according to the experts, due to the fact that there were only five Celtics players guarding them, out of which only 2 were guards. The defence choked LeBron and the Cavs, and Boston came out on top with a domination performance.
This series was not only disappointing for the Cavs but was very unsuccessful for LeBron too. The series witnessed this player manage only 26 points with 7 assists and 9 rebounds per game. These statistics are undoubtedly not the type of stats that are expected
from a player like him.
LeBron also doesn’t offer the best defence that other great players like Kobe Bryant do. His defensive techniques make him part of one of the porous defences that you will see in the NBA. The weak defence of the player can be seen from the fact that he managed
to keep Paul Pierce five points below the point’s average he managed to maintain during the course of the season. If LeBron was truly a great player, then Paul Pierce would not have been able to score a single basket during the series.
Last year was another one of the unsuccessful years, not for the Cavs but for LeBron James. Last year during the course of the series against the Orlando Magic, the Cavs were in command and were the best team in the league, but LeBron failed to deliver even
then. He failed the hopes of his team and fans miserably and couldn’t even take advantage of his home court.
This player was only able to average 28.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.2 assists during the course of the series. These statistics are not of a great player for sure and the series again saw the player been helped on by other players on the team.
Though other players on the roster did a lot and tried their hearts out, LeBron failed to stir any positive emotions. He couldn’t manage to finish the job that just needed the final touch. This amazed many around the NBA world, and many started to think
of him as more of a player who was overrated.
Now answering the question, whether or not LeBron is overrated?
Experts say that though from the time this player starting getting all the media and fans attention, his teammates might have become selfish. But that doesn’t mean that this player is being hindered by them. The thing that makes him overrated is that he
fails to deliver every time something is expected out of him.
Therefore for this simple and basic fact, this player is for sure overrated a great deal. Despite of the fact, this player managed to come up with some good performances, but those were against some of the weaker teams in the NBA. And when it comes to being
regarded among some of the great players, then you have to work hard and earn your way by cementing outstanding and consistent performances. That LeBron James has failed in doing without any doubts.
