NBA Special Report- Players Looking to Make a Comeback (Part 1)
Players of various sports can sometimes have an injury prone career while other times they may have a career without any major injury and that also coupled with loads of achievements. Today, we will be focusing on the NBA players who are looking to make a comeback after getting injured.
There are many players on the injury list but the one on top especially for the Houston Rocket fans is Yao Ming. Presently, the tallest player in the NBA missed an entire season due to a complex foot surgery. However, now the seven times All-Star centre has been declared fit to play and has reportedly said to have recovered fully. He will be taking part in the upcoming season. The Houston Rockets were very much tense after Yao had announced that if the doctors didn’t clear him then he might consider the option of retiring. The Rocket’s General Manager is reported to have said that they will limit his use.
Blake Griffin of the Clippers is one player who sustained injury in his opening year at the NBA. The top pick from the 2009 draft injured his knee which was later revealed to be a stress fracture. According to doctors, this young and talented player was asked to perform a lot that left him waiting for recovery. Initially, he was expected to return to the NBA stage by the season’s end but this proved wrong as he didn’t recover and upon tests it was further revealed that his injury had become more complicated after which he now has been ruled out for a few more months. This ecstatic player’s regular season is set to start on the 27th of October against the Trail Blazers.
Josh Howard is one of the unlucky men in NBA as just nine days with his new team, he injured himself. After leaving his former team, Josh joined the Wizards roster. Still in his early days there, he was looking to impress the others around and also make them feel that he was one player who can be relied upon, however, his attempt in doing so was of no use as the torn ligament in his left knee ruled him out of the season. Although this player was brought in with a contract that gave him around $11 million but while he was recovering, the Wizards revised the contract and the time period was adjusted to one year during which he is set to receive around only $4 million. On the other hand, experts say that if this extravagant player is able to return to form that he was in 2007 then this might work in his favor. After his contract was revisited, he might receive offers from other teams also.
Greg Oden is another player who after moving into the team suffered from injury. His entire career till now has been injury prone. This player is regarded by experts as an extremely talented one who was Blazers top pick in the 2007 draft pick. But what Blazers didn’t know was that they had chosen a player who was to have four injuries in three seasons. After sitting out since 5th December, it is still unclear whether or not this player will be ready for the season opener or not.
