NBA Special Report- Players Looking to Make a Comeback (Part 2)
Andrew Bogut, Bucks’ centre and leading shot block-blocker with 2.54 per game comes behind the ever so talented Kevin Durant. This player is important to Bucks because of the skills and strengths he provides to the team but with just two weeks in the regular season he suffered a very painful blow that not only hurt him but the Bucks a great deal too. He is one of those players who the Bucks depend on and are looking for quality minutes from him. However coming to the injury, Bogut’s hand slipped off the rim after he was intending to end a fast break with an extremely tough dunk. The aftermath of this incident saw the player suffer from a dislocated right elbow, broken hands and also an index finger along with two wrist bones fractured. But after having a good breakout season, this splendid player is looking good for the upcoming season.
One of the most mentionable players in the list would undoubtedly be the 10-years NBA veteran Michael Redd, who while being flooded with loads of talent last January tore his ACL and MCL. This former All-Star again injured the same knee that had been injured a year earlier. Due to this injury, not only is his playing career under threat but also is his financial status according to reports. Experts say that after losing the remainder of last season, he might just also be losing on the $90.9 million contract same as his NBA career.
Another important player from the injured list is Mehmet Okur, who was seen rupturing his Achilles tendon during the first game of the playoffs last season. The 6 feet 11 inches Utah Jazz centre injured himself during the game against the Denver Nuggets. This not only resulted in him missing the rest of season but also ruled him out of the FIBA World Championships that are taking place at the end of this month in his homeland, Turkey. His availability is still questionable and one that is going to hurt the Utah Jazz as he had led the total blocks in the league with 81 and 515 rebounds during the 2009-10 season.
Boston Celtics’ Kendrick Perkins had torn the MCL and PCL in his right knee during game 6 of the NBA Finals against the Lakers. Perkins is of great importance to the Celtics. He is not only one of their most powerful players but also one of the best when it comes to defense providing the team with diverse options. Perkins saw the Celtics lose the Finals to the Lakers after which this player underwent surgery. Doctors have ruled him out of action till February. The solution to this problem that the head coach has come up with was by signing Jermaine O’Neal and Shaquille O’Neal during the course of the off season.
Just two months after the start of last season was all it took for the Trail Blazers’ centre Joel Przybilla to rupture and dislocate the patella in his right knee. The player not delaying even a little immediately underwent surgery to repair the damage. Missing all of the season, he was on road to recovery when in March he slipped in the shower. Although, no serious damage occurred due to this incident but a little more time on bed has been asked for him by the doctors. Reports say that Przybilla will again be on the court in the opening night of the season.
