NBA Special Report: The top 10 show stoppers of the 2010-11 season thus far
You have witnessed many outstanding games from some of the NBA prime talents during the season 2010-11. It seems like almost every night there is some player doing something spectacular.
The crux of the top 10 individual performances of the 2010-11 NBA season as of February 9, 2011 are:
LeBron James - Miami Heat
LeBron James "King James" had one of his all-time performances when he scored season-high 51 points as Miami Heat held on to defeat the Orlando Magic 104-100 at Amway Center.
James also grabbed 11 rebounds and 8 assists by hitting 11 from 11 of his shots from the field. It was the ninth 50-point game of James' career.
Carmelo Anthony - Denver Nuggets
Carmelo Anthony "Melo” registered a career-high with 50 points in a 108-103 defeat of Denver Nuggets against Houston Rockets at Pepsi Center.
Besides tying his career-high 50, Anthony added 16-of-24 from the field. In addition, he made 16-of-18 free throws and pulled down 11 boards in the defeat.
Blake Griffin – Los Angeles Clippers
Power forward Blake Griffin continued his astonishing rookie season as he scored a career-high 47 points in Los Angeles Clipper impressive 114-107 victory over the Indiana Pacers at Staples Center.
All-Star rookie forward Griffin recorded his 33rd double-double, which is his 27th consecutive in just 39 games this season.
NBA's most prolific dunker Griffin added 19-of-24 from the field, adding 14 rebounds. His 19 made field goals also were his career high.
Monta Ellis - - Golden State Warriors
The 25-years-old Warriors combo guard Monta Ellis had a career high 46 points as the Golden State Warriors beat the Houston Rockets 132-128 at ORACLE Arena. Ellis' 46 points are the third most by a Warriors player in a season opener.
Ellis stated after his sizzling performance, "I am in a good mindset," "I got no worries, no complaints. Everything is positive, so me, I have to be a positive, be a leader, and lead these guys in the right direction."
Paul Millsap - Utah Jazz
Power forward Paul Millsap scored a career-high 46 points as the Utah Jazz stunned the visiting Miami Heat 116-114 in overtime on at American Airlines Arena.
Millsap scored 11 of his points in the final crucial 28 seconds of regulation as Utah rallied from eight-point deficit.
Millsap said, "It is speechless, to be down like that to a team like this and to come out with a win." "We clawed our way out of it. But this says a lot about our team."
LeBron James - Miami Heat
LeBron James “Chosen One” had a triple-double of the season as he contributed 20 points, 14 assists, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 1 steal for the Heat. His teller effort though, was not enough to halt the resurgent Jazz, who beat
the Heat 116-114.
Stephen Jackson - Charlotte Bobcats
The 32-years-old Stephen Jackson had a game-high 24 points for the Charlotte Bobcats in an 83-78 loss to the Jazz.
Jackson “Stack Jack” also knocked down all eight of his free throws while adding eight rebounds, three steals, one block, and one assist. He is averaging 22.6 during the current season.
Pau Gasol - Los Angeles Lakers
A Spanish professional basketball player Pau Gasol had 20 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists, and the Los Angeles Lakers downed the Portland Trail Blazers 121-96 at Staples Center.
The NBA Champion (2009-10) Gasol is averaging 12.3 rebounds per game (RPG), which would be a career high.
Gasol “Captain Jack” is at third position in the league in terms of rebounds per game, behind Kevin Love and Joakim Noah.
Kobe Bryant - Los Angeles Lakers
Kobe “The Black Mamba” Bryant had first triple-double of the season to help the Lakers win their fifth straight game with an impressive 112-100 over the Sacramento Kings at ARCO Arena.
The MVP for 2008, Bryant had 30 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, marking season highs in all three categories.
The 32-years-old shooting guard had his 17th career triple-double and first since January 21, 2009.
Kevin Love - Minnesota Timberwolves
Kevin Love played one of his best games of the season in Wolves uniform when he played the NBA's first 30-30 game in 28 years since Moses Malone in 1982. Love grabbed a franchise-record 31 rebounds and scored 31 points, as the
Minnesota Timberwolves clipped the New York Knicks 112-103 at Target Center.
Wolves power forward Love pulled down 15 boards in the third quarter alone to pave the way for the Timberwolves.
