NBA Special Report- Three point specialists for the 2010-11 Season (Part 1)

The concept of three-pointers was brought into action for the first time during the 1979-80 Season. The three-point line is an arc which in drawn 23-feet and nine inches away from the basket and has a distance of 22-feet when it comes to the corners.
Ever since the three-pointer has been brought into play, some players in the NBA only depend on their skill of three-point shooting to maintain their position in their respective teams. Let’s begin our list of players who are specialists of three-point shooting,
heading into the 2010-11 season.
The tenth spot on this list is occupied by two men, J.J Redick and Quentin Richardson. This summer, Orlando Magic has signed one of the most successful veterans when it comes to the three-pointers, in Quentin Richardson. This extravagant shooter once had
an average of 2.9 three-pointers per game. However, this splendid shooter was not as successful this past season as he only managed an average of 1.9 three pointers per game. The thing that attracted the Magic towards him was his career high shooting percentage
of 39.7, which he managed to establish this past season.
Another big name when it comes to three-point shooting is that of J.J Redick. He managed to establish a 40.5 percent success rate from behind the arc during the past season and had many eyes on him. With the departure of Matt Barnes from the Magic’s roster,
they offered Redick an offer that made him feel that he would be given more importance and would be a regular player.
The $19 million offer that was made would make anyone feel they are an important asset and it is no surprise he decided to take his talents to Orlando. Experts say that with a player like Dwight Howard on your team, opponents would struggle to defend. Consequently,
out of the two guards, whoever gets the chance to play will have loads of three-pointer shooting opportunities.
The ninth spot in the list is occupied by a player, who was a part of one of the most exciting and upcoming teams, the Golden Warrior States. Anthony Morrow is the player that comes out to make his way into the list. One of the good shooters of the game,
Morrow managed to maintain an average of 1.7 three’s per game with a shooting percentage of 46 percent from behind the three-point line.
Now with the new season starting in a few months time, Morrow will be taking his talents to New Jersey. He was able to maintain a level of consistency last year that saw him being traded to one of the most talented teams in the NBA, the New Jersey Nets.
With this trade, Morrow gets a stronger and more balanced roster to work with. This will result in him playing for increased minutes alongside one of the most talented centres of the NBA, Brook Lopez, who will draw the attention of the defence, and allow
Morrow to shoot from the arc. Accompanying him is also one of the great emerging point guards, Devin Harris.
This will result in the point guard delivering the ball to Morrow in effective and good positions that will only need him to concentrate and shoot rather than him having to make the play. This will without a doubt help him become one of the deadliest three-pointer
shooters in the near future.
