NBA Special Report: Three point specialists for the 2010-11 season (Part 2)
During the past few seasons, the NBA world has witnessed many records being made and broken regarding the three pointers. The records made were related to not only individuals but even the teams that were able to bag huge number of three points. This had
been the case especially during the 1995-96 season, when the three pointer line was moved experimentally. Not only this, the three pointers have been an essential part of this year’s draft, as now they are an important asset for the team.
The eighth spot is occupied by the Houston Rockets Aaron Brooks, who has had a breakout last season. The extravagant player has been able to maintain an average of 19.6 points per game and 5.3 assists per game as a full time. Last year the absence of Yao
Ming hurt the Rockets a great deal; now that he is back, the experts say that this player will be having another successful season, as the presence of Yao Ming would help him bag more points using his deadly skills of three pointers. One of the brilliant three
point shooters of the game, Brooks was able to lead the league with 209 field three pointers. Coupled with this was the percentage 39.8 shooting from behind the three pointer line.
The Rockets chances of not only making it into the playoffs are pampered but also there is chance that the Rockets will be able to make it into the finals according to analysts. This is due to the fact of the presence of the big centre, Yao Ming with whom
defences will surely crumble and give open chances for this player. The experts say that this may also result in him scoring more than 300 field three pointers this upcoming season which would further boost the chances of the Rockets for a strong finish in
the upcoming season.
But as some reports suggest that Yao Ming might be on road for another injury this upcoming season, if that would be the case then the experts say that still Brooks would be able to come up with commendable numbers when it would come to the three pointer
shooting abilities and success.
The 7th spot is one which would be somewhat surprising for you as it occupied by not only a single individual but by a whole team, the Phoenix Suns. Since this list is based on the fact of the players who are expected to excel in the department
of three point shooting then the Suns are a team that have potentially all the players who can shoot from the three pointer line and have good amount of success rate in doing so.
Analysts also say that this is more of a necessity for them, as one of the big and important players; Amar’e Stoudemire has gone from the Suns. In order to taste success, these two things that this Suns team needs is that huge amount of three point success,
which they are very capable of. The other being the great Steve Nash, on top form and performing to the best of abilities.
Experts say that with player like Steve Nash with his average of 1.5 threes per game, Jared Dudley with his average of 1.5 threes per game and Channing Frye with his average of 2.1 threes per game are one of the deadliest looking teams when it comes to three
points shooting for the upcoming seasons. The only that makes them fall so down the list is the fact that these players do not have a big man in the middle who will provide them with the open chances that other teams would get like that of Yao Ming in the
Houston Rockets.
However, reports suggest that the Suns may be looking to break the record for the most number three during a season by a team of 841 that was made by the Orlando Magic during the 2009-10 season and maintaining the crown that they held previously held after
splendid performances during the 2005-06 season.
