NBA Special Report: Top 5 players in Miami Heat’s history
Sports Analyst say Miami Heat has reached the epitome of its glamour this year by acquiring one of the strongest players in the NBA. Nevertheless, the Heat has always been a very enchanting franchise throughout its history, with drafting and picking the best players, such as Hall-of-Famers like Shaquille O’Neal and three time NBA Championship winner, Glen Rice.
Today we’re going to look at the elite of NBA, which has made its presence in the Miami Heat:
When we talk about Alonzo Mourning, he is one of the few players who really gave legends like Michael Jordon a run in the 90’s. It took 20 years for the aspiring center to retire jersey No.33. It was an emotional moment for the Miami Fans, as his jersey was hung from the rafters, people were left in tears and Alonzo himself burst into tears. Alonzo is considered the soul of the Miami Heat because experts say he put the Heat on the map. Despite his kidney transplant, he remained a ferocious player and continued to strive for more until retirement.
As soon as the name Dwyane Wade is mentioned, every sports enthusiast would know who one is talking about. He is currently ranked as one of the top players of the NBA, and is the face of Miami Heat. After Alonzo retired from Miami Heat, a lot of people lost hope thinking the team has not much to offer to the team, until Wade showed up; he brought revolution to the Heat again, bringing joy to the fans. Dwyane is considered amongst the elite scorers already with a higher average than Kobe Bryant, 26.3 points per game. It is noted that Wade is almost unstoppable, and once near the rim, he will slice his way through cutting players as if they were leaves in the jungle.
Shaquille O’Neal also known as the “Big Diesel” might have served the Heat for two years but he still managed to score over 20 points per game during his tenure with the team. The diesel is unquestionably one of the greatest centers ever to join the league, he has brought spark to every team he has joined. He collected his four championship title with the Miami Heat in 2006. Shaquille is known for his brute force and size, very few in the NBA have ever been able to stop him, when he’s under the net. Speculations are being about the Big Diesels return to the Miami Heat but nothing has been confirmed as of now.
Rony Seikaly is a Lebanese native, who is also known as the “Spin Doctor” in the NBA. He came to the Miami Heat in 1998 and did not take time in making his name in the franchise. He stood at 6feet 11inches and played at the center position. His scoring ability and smooth moves are still talked about the basketball enthusiasts, and he is cheered upon by fans if spotted at a Miami game. He won the Most Improved Player award in 1990. Rony still holds the record for most blocks in a game for the Miami Heat.
Experts say Tim Hardaway is one of the best point guards in Miami’s history; they also insist that if it wasn’t Michael’s era in the 90’s Alonzo and Hardaway would have been the next rulers. At only 6feet, Hardaway dominated the league and was always the highlight of every game the Heat played. He might not have had the best shooting percentage in the Heat but managed to surpass more than 150 three-points in three different occasions over the years. Hardaway holds the second fastest record of reaching 5,000 points, right after Oscar Robertson and also holds the record of fastest assists in the Heat’s history of 1,947, which was recently surpassed by Dwyane Wade.
