NBA Special Report- Underrated teams with winning potential (Part 2)
Continuing with the teams that are underrated but have what it takes to win we have the Portland Blazers next in line.
The Portland Blazers are one of the surprise packages of the NBA. However, this team has the potential to become the best team in the NBA but lags behind due to some reason. The year 2008 saw this team impress many around the NBA world. This incredible unit
was able to win an amazing 54 games. This effectively tied the team for the second position with the San Antonio Spurs and the Denver Nuggets. Due to some unknown reason, this extravagant unit did not perform to its full potential according to many. The Western
Conference at the time saw the team exit out of the first round after the Houston Rocket’s good performance. What according to critics might have been the possible reason for this? It could have been the relative inexperience of the young team at the time.
Last year was not as successful due to the fact that this team faced a lot of injury problems. Injuries to almost every player in the roster forced this team to use alternative resources. This resulted in their performances dropping that resulted a poor
finish overall in the league. However, the season was promising but it saw rookie players come up and play majority of the minutes. Firstly, it was commendable that the team was able to make it into the playoffs. Secondly, their performance against the Suns
with their All-Star Brandon Roy missing was also among the amazing things that the Blazers managed to achieved.
Now that the 2010-11 season will be starting, they are expected to continue from where they left off in the 2008-09 season. They are expected to win games only on home turf but shock many teams while on the away games. This is one of those seasons in their
history that is giving them an opportunity to win not only the championship but also emerge as one of the top teams in the NBA. This season they have a very good chance, as they have a strong defence, strong offense and most importantly one of the best playmaking
units. The experts adding to this say that the team can undoubtedly give the Los Angeles Lakers a tough time in the running for the title if they perform according to their potential. With all said let’s wait and watch whether the Blazers perform according
to their potential or according to the expectations.
One of the good teams that are having a bad time is the San Antonio Spurs. This team according to the analysts is a team that is going through a transition phase of replacing the old players with new ones. They have succeeded in doing so but still haven’t
managed to find a new Tim Duncan. Every team goes through this phase. For instance, the Lakers went through this when Shaq left and now it’s the Spurs.
The Spurs have generally been very good a finding talent. This can be seen from the fact that they managed to replace David Robinson, a legend of the game with Tim Duncan who was to become the future great. One of the most amazing things according to experts
is the fact that unlike many teams the Spurs transition has been smooth. Many teams that go through ups and downs fail during the transition period but the Spurs managed to maintain good performances if not the best. Keeping this in mind the upcoming season
provides them with a good chance of emerging as one of the strong contenders for the Conference title if not the Finals.
The Spurs are developing Tiago Splitter into a good player who could eventually take the position of the great Tim Duncan. Reports suggest that the day he manages to prove that has learned enough, that day would result in Duncan retiring and the Spurs coming
up as strong contenders for the NBA title. Expect the Spurs to bag good performances this season if Splitter lives up to expectations with some help from Tim Duncan.
