NBA Special Report – active team players above the age of 35
Some players have past the glory days that once they enjoyed, some of them have lost the first step while other have lost the final step to end their trademark move that once was their deadliest weapon. Some of these players have come up with announcements of retirement only to realize the fact that they still have some fuel in the engine and still have something left to offer to what they have been doing all their life. Some of the players are in the media for all the wrong reasons that result in their career and performances being suffered, while some are the gods of stories that make them better and better by each passing day. The article mentions the players who are above 35 years and played in NBA. The experts would try to make a team in which all the players are above the age of 35, who are still looking to keep up with the young guns of the game. There are currently a total of 18 players in the NBA who are above the 35 age barrier and the experts have been able to devise a team out of these 18 players.
Steve Nash
The point guard position of this team is occupied by one of the best in the business, Steve Nash. Though the experts say that Jason Kidd is also a strong candidate for the post but Nash is able to come out on top as he has that extra bit. Not only this but Nash is a year younger than Jason Kidd and averages better than him too. This further supports the fact that Nash is the best for the team and job. The experts add to this further by saying that Nash is far quicker and creative than Jason and can deceive any opponent with his sharp twists and turns. Nash is player who helps other players increase their game level as the young players need to match him and in doing so they learn a lot whether it be on the offense or the defence.
Ray Allen
The shooting guard position is taken by Ray Allen, as he is the only true shooting guard in the 35-year-old list. The experts say that there are other players who might be able to play in the position like Allen Iverson but he is not a true shooting guard, which leaves only Ray Allen. Although he didn’t have the successful season last year, he still showed that he has the long shooting range but lost ground on the hot skills and killer moves that he once had.
Grant Hill
The small forward position is occupied by the Phoenix Suns man, Grant Hill. Last season saw him come up with good results and consistent performances. Experts say that he is more than a role player in the NBA. The skills and talent that he possess, puts him as a strong player on the defensive rather than on the offense. Last season he averaged 11.3 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game.
The power forward position in the team is occupied by Zydrunas Ilgauskas who will be part of the Miami Heat following another great of the game already LeBron James. Though he is more known to play centre but size, technique and passing abilities make him a good choice for the 4th spot in the team. Though he is not the fastest of the guys but the thing that puts him ahead of the others is the fact that he is able to come up with consistent and impressive performances no matter how tense or difficult the situation.
Shaquille O’Neal
The centre position without any doubt is occupied the giant Shaquille O’Neal. Experts say that at the age of 38, Shaq being the oldest man can still prove to the deadliest of all on his day. The giant frame of this player enables him to overpower any opponent make him one of the dangerous players to play against. Experts say that he is good enough for 20-30 minutes of play and fit to search his fifth championship ring.
