NBA Sunday Roundup: Philadelphia 76ers and Minnesota Timberwolves win – (Part 2)
Philadelphia 76ers 95 – Cleveland Cavaliers 91
The Philadelphia 76ers registered their fourth consecutive victory with a 95-91 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena on Sunday night.
Philadelphia Power forward Elton Brand did not seem bothered by the finger injury he had sustained, as he scored a team-high 16 points and eight rebounds in the victory. Guard Lou Williams played an effective game as he also contributed 16 points for the
Sixers, who won their 11th road game of the 2010-11 season.
Jodie Meeks scored 14 points, while guard Jrue Holiday finished with 13 points for Philadelphia, who are now 30-29 during the current season. J.J. Hickson fought hard as he contributed a game-high 22 points and 16 rebounds for the Cavaliers, who lost the
21st home game of the season.
Ramon Session came off the bench with 20 points, 10 assists and six rebounds for Cleveland, who lost their 48th game of the current season. Forward Antawn Jamison had 16 points while Samardo Samuels posted 12 points in the losing effort.
The Cavaliers got it going offensively early in the opening quarter as they went ahead by 21-10 with two minutes remaining in the quarter. However, the Sixers went on a 4-3 run to go into the second quarter just a point behind at 23-22.
In the second quarter, Philadelphia got it going offensively, and used that to slowly build up a 49-43 lead by half time. The Sixers continued to up the ante in the third quarter and headed into the final quarter with a lead of 75-64.
Philadelphia expanded their lead to 91-82 with two minutes to go until the final buzzer. The Cavaliers found their rhythm midway through the final stanza and Gibson's three-pointer with 7.9 seconds remaining made it a one basket game at 93-91. Shooting guard
Meeks then came around with two of his sizzling free throws in the last six seconds to end the game in favor of the Sixers.
Philadelphia coach Doug Collins acknowledged the great contribution of Jodie Meeks, who scored all 14 of his points in the second half, including a critical three-pointer with less than four minutes left to play.

Minnesota Timberwolves 126 – Golden State Warriors 123
The Minnesota Timberwolves snapped their seven-game losing streak, with a narrow 126-123 win over the visiting Golden State Warriors, at Target Centre on Sunday night. The result was the Warriors third loss in as many games.
Kevin Love played one of his best games of the 2010-11 season, as he registered a game-high 37 points and 23 rebounds, extending his NBA-leading double-double streak to 46 games. Michael Beasley also came off the bench to have a productive game, as he scored
25 points for Minnesota, who won their 10th home game of the season.
Rookie Wes Johnson had 17 points, while guard Luke Ridnour ended with 13 points for the Timberwolves, who won their 14th game of the current season. Stephen Curry led the Warriors with a team-high 33 points and 11 rebounds in the season’s 19th
road defeat. David Lee and Monta Ellis scored 20 points apiece for Golden State.
Dorell Wright had an impressive night as he scored 15 of his points in the opening quarter, which included the first ten points of the quarter. Wright’s brilliant performance allowed the Warriors to take an impressive 41-32 lead into the second. Trailing
by nine points, the Wolves fought hard in the second quarter to cut the deficit and Anthony Tolliver's breath-taking three-pointer made it a 73-69 game at half time.
Minnesota came out strongly in the third quarter as they turned a four-point deficit into a 104-89 lead after three quarters. Golden State continued to be aggressive in the fourth, cutting the deficit to five points (116-111) with five minutes remaining
in the final buzzer.
Curry then nailed a three-pointer to make it a one point game at 119-118 with three and a half minutes left in the game. A driving dunk shot by Ellis once again got the Warriors to within one at 124-123 with over a minute to go. However, Minnesota responded
with two free throws from Anthony Tolliver to seal the home victory.
