NBA Teams which can become title favourites with Monta Ellis (Part-1)
Golden State Warriors’ guard Monta Ellis has spent almost six years in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and judging by his performances for the Warriors last season, it is safe to say that the shooting guard has still
got a lot to offer. Ellis is athleticism personified and his ability to take over the game in the crucial moments made him one of the most credible offensive threats in the last season.
However, Ellis does posses a lot a loopholes in his defensive game and his inability to raise the bar on the front, cost Warriors dearly at times last season.
Although, in 2008 he had signed a six year extension deal with the Warriors, but after last season’s performance, the Warriors management is reportedly not very happy and is planning to trade him. Ellis, even with his defensive
weaknesses though can give many teams a positive boost for winning the Larry’ O Brien Trophy, especially the teams who already have a strong defensive core.
His potential trade has yet to be made by the Golden State Warriors as their management is still waiting for the lockout to be lifted from the league. This work stoppage has created a chaos in NBA as many contacts, new signings,
and trades are put on hold. The league owners and the Players Association are still on a standstill on the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and till the time, this issue hangs around in the league, no further steps can be taken in terms of trades.
Coming onto the potential trade of Monta Ellis, there are still many things which are yet to be sorted out. His current contract with the Warriors and past brilliant performances are very vital. From his debut to recent years,
his performance has been consistent, at least on the offence.
Before we discuss his potential trade to some other team in the league, we should see his past commitment level with his current team in which he has spent almost six years.
Monta Ellis made his NBA debut in 2005 when the Golden State Warriors selected him as the 40th overall pick in the second round. He played at Lanier High School in Mississippi as an amateur basketball player. His brilliant
speed and extra athleticism made him famous around Mississippi State and also earned him the name “The Mississippi Bullet”.
Monta Ellis has been a revelation ever since his rookie season. Over the years, he has established himself as one of the premiere shooting guards in the league and after playing for six years in the league; he is averaging 19.4
points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.
