NBA – Teams who might just beat the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers
It’s an acclaimed statement “Miami will win the NBA Championship title blind folded”, while there is a lot of truth to that prediction due to their astounding star studded bench, however it could always turn out otherwise as nothing is certain in sports.
Los Angeles is hands down the National Basketball Associations favourite, winning two titles consecutively has led the basketball pundits to believe they have a strong chance of taking the next championship. Also the addition of Matt Barnes and Steve Blake to their powerhouse has added more depth to the team.
However the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat might be topping the charts to be one of the most credited and desired team in the league, the fact remains that NBA still has newly built teams who are extremely focused and determined to take down the alpha dogs.
Taking a glance at the underdogs currently present in the NBA, who certainly have a shot at the upcoming title this year.
Boston Celtics
Despite what critics may say about the aging team, the Celtics not only hold the most championships ever won in the league but they are the most consistent franchise in the history of NBA. The Boston Celtics unfortunately lost to the Los Angeles Lakers after a real close match-up this year, by 4-3. The Celtics consist of veteran players like power forward Kevin Garnett, shooting guard Ray Allen, small forward Paul Pierce, rising stars like Rajon Rondo and now the ultimate soon to be Hall-of-Famer centre Shaquille O’Neal.
The Miami Heat is already considered to be unbeatable, even though they have not played a single match yet just because of how heavy their roster weighs. So considering the commanding line-up the Celtics have, are they still not one of the strongest team? The Celtics will definitely come back with vengeance in the upcoming season and create havoc.
San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs were just another team in the background ever since it was founded, which was way back in 1967. However after Tim Duncan showed up in 1997 he helped the team earn something they never thought they could achieve in a million years and that is respect! After the recruited Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili the Spurs did the unthinkable, they won 4 National Championship titles.
However the Spurs have not won since past since past three-years, they have still made it to the playoffs each year. The Spurs acquired two veteran players last season, centre Antonio McDyess and small forward Richard Jefferson who are going under vigorous trainings. The team is predicted to come back real strong this regular-season. Tim has never failed to disappoint his fans; even if they do not win the team never ceases to give a graceful performance.
Chicago Bulls
After signing power forward Carlos Boozer to the team, basketball experts are set to believe the Bulls reign of terror is going to return. In early 90’s till millennium legend Michael Jordon, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman ruled the league; with their relentless force the three helped the Bulls win 6 National Championship titles. Although it all ended after Michael retired and since then the Bulls have failed to regain the admiration they once had.
This year experts have made a strong prediction that the Chicago Bulls will terrorize the court, with Carlos Boozer supporting rookie sensation Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah playing as the centre the Bulls have virtually sculpted together a dictating trio. Derrick was the highest pick drafted in 2008 by the Bulls in the longest time as No.1, and he has remained true to his number. Over a course of two years the young stellar player has already created a deep impression in the basketball community; it was believed that all the All-Star needed was a veteran mentor to guide him. Now that Boozer has filled up the mentor spot, the Bulls is rated amongst the elite of NBA once again. The Bulls fans are already going wild and have high hopes from them this year.
Honourable Mentions: Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic, Utah Jazz and Portland Trail Blazers.
