NBA: Top 4 Veterans without a championship title
Many players come to the NBA, some are remembered as legends, some as great scorers, and some recognized for their amazing leadership qualities. However, one thing that every athlete strives for is a championship title, which some unfortunate great players are unable to grasp.
Here is a list of 4 of the most unfortunate great veteran players who have been unable to get a hold of the championship ring:
Tracy McGrady belongs to the elite class of NBA but sadly he is without a championship ring, putting him behind the rest. Basketball pundits say calling Tracy a good player is an understatement; he was brilliant in his days. They say if the player had not faced countless injuries he had the potential to stand right beside Kobe Bryant. The only thing that knocks him from the top of the best player charts is because he could never pull it to the championship finals. However that did not stop Tracy from becoming a part of the All-Star team seven times and two times the NBA scoring champion. Despite his injuries he has kept an above average scoring average of 21.5 points with six rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.
Vince Carter is Tracy’s third cousin and widely known to be one of the best dunkers in the NBA, with his tremendous leap. Experts say Vince was quite similar to the basketball legend Michael Jordan; both stood at 6’6”, both had one of the highest jumps in the NBA, let alone both posses a beautiful personality but vince shared one common thing with his cousin which stopped him from dominating the National Basketball Association, getting injured countless times. However that did not stop Vince from keeping an average off 22.9 points per game and 6.2 rebounds per game. Vince has participated for the NBA All-Star game seven times consecutively from 2000-2007. He also won a slam dunk competition in 2000 after he slammed a 360° windmill, the same very year he also took the USA team to win the Olympics which were held in Sydney.
If there was an award for the most unselfish player of the year award it would go to Steve Nash. Steve is widely known for his amazing passing abilities, it does not matter if Steve is double teamed he will find a way to pass or assist his teammate to score. Steve has won back-to-back MVP awards but sadly has never won a ring, let alone been to the NBA Finals. Steve Nash is a gritty sensational guard; he has an average of 14.6 points per game and 8.3 assists per game. He might not dunk in a game, he might not be able to take a huge leap of the 2 point line and jump over a 7 feet tall centre, but what Nash has provided to the NBA only a few have, he came to the NBA in 1996 and since then has remained as one of the consistent players even at the age of 36.
Jason Kidd is a player who has taken a team like New Jersey Nets to two NBA finals almost single handidly. At the age of 37 he is the 2nd oldest player to still play for the NBA after Shaquille O’Neal. Many experts say that it is still unbelievable at times to think Jason is without a Championship title. Jason has been a part of the NBA All-Star team ten times, his other accolades include, NBA co-Rookie of the Year Award alongside Grant Hill, 2003 Skills Challenge Champion and he also made it to the All-Defence Team four times. Jason almost achieved the MVP award in 2001-02 season but finished second right after the veteran Tim Duncan. Jason in his entire career altogether has played 14 playoffs and has yet to win a NBA championship. Jason played for the Phoenix Suns for five-years and was widely known to be a triple-double threat. His career average is 14.8 points per game with 7.4 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game.
