NBA - Top franchises and their interesting Matchups of 2010-11
Just because Miami Heat has the best players on paper does not mean they are necessarily going to be the next championship winners, it’s a fact in sports nothing is guaranteed. At this very moment every basketball fanatic is contemplating that the Heat will take the next title because of their star tandem, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh.
Then there are the obvious teams that every basketball fanatic wants to see go at each other like mad dogs. Let’s analyze the most interesting matchups that are going to take place in the upcoming regular season and who is likely to dominate.
Go to any sports website dedicated to basketball, and all one would see is 90% of the content relating to the Miami Heat. The Heat’s have undoubtedly jolted a cluster of the top cream in NBA, having one of the most dominate small forwards, power forwards and shooting guards.
One of the most anticipated matchup will be between the Miami Heat vs. Los Angeles Lakers, which would take place on Christmas day. Although one could bluntly say that the Los Angeles Lakers would win unquestionably, as they won back to back National championship titles but the fact is as mentioned previously nothing for certain no matter what the supporting cast might be. Miami Heat have a young lethal team, conversely the Los Angeles has an aging team but extremely experienced.
Comparing both teams defence and offense leaves one wondering who would win because both teams are good at both ends. Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Ron Artest at one side and Dwyane, Bosh and James on the other, would certainly be the clash of the titans.
Another matchup that will make the basketball enthusiast grab hold of their seat would be Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Chicago Bulls. Some may wonder why it would be. Well simply because the two teams just rebuilt themselves once again but this time consisting of All-Star material. Thunders having a young hopeful player Kevin Durant, who was the scoring champion in this year’s playoff tipping Kobe and James of the scale, while Chicago Bulls drafted Derrick Rose two years ago, who is also the leader for the team at only age 21.
Watching Kevin’s team and Derricks go at each other would be simply epic; both have an average above 25 points per game. Rose led his team to the playoffs twice single-handily and Kevin once. Experts say the thing that was lacking in the team was a strong supporting cast; however both teams weren’t the winners of the free agency but signed on some strong players.
But the question remains, who will win? Well once again, one could compare statistics, this year Chicago Bulls seeded at 8th number in the Eastern Conference after 41 wins and 41 loses and Oklahoma City Thunder also seeded at the 8th position but won 50 games and lost only 32. The comparison shows Thunders to be superior but then again the Bulls recruited Carlos Boozer, one of the most dominating powers forward currently present in the NBA. Now who’s to say Boozer could totally tip the scale this year and dominate the Thunder’s; however we’ll only know on the 27th of October 2010.
According to some it was the greatest matchup there could have been in the NBA playoffs finals this year as Boston Celtics faced Los Angeles Lakers continuing their age-old rivalry, and losing by only one-game, but some thought the match this year was a joke as it was dull and boring. Both teams were extremely stressed not knowing what would happen next. Basketball pundits say the situation could take place next year if the Miami Heat faces the Lakers, as both teams are filled with star-studded players.
Boston will be facing the Lakers with the home court advantage on 30th January 2011. The reason this matchup will be enticing is not only because the two would be fighting the battle against each other once again but because Shaquille O’Neal was signed on by the Celtics last week.
Shaquille has an interesting history with the Lakers, at one point him and Kobe were best friends dominating the league with their ruthless duo. Alas, they both fought and O’Neal ended up departing from the team. Since then Kobe and Shaquille have formed a rivalry against each other as well. So the match between the Lakers and the Celtics would be action-packed and the games tickets are predicted to be sold out within a few weeks as always.
