NBA Trade Speculations: Veterans available on the trade circuit (Part 1)
The National Basketball Association lockout has not only spoiled the regular activities of the league, but it has also spoiled following of the game. After NBA Commissioner David Stern cancelled the first month of the 2011-12 season
last month
However, now the owners had delivered their ‘final’ offer to the players through Stern. In this ‘final’ offer the owners have proposed to split the Basketball Related Income (BRI) on 50-50 basis. This seems to be the best deal
that players would get from the owners in many NBA analysts view, but players don’t look satisfied with this proffer.
Hopefully for the sake of the game things would get settle down quickly and once again the fans could see the shopping spree of the players which would later lead to the real action. Because once the work stoppage is over the NBA
teams will focus on only one thing for sure and that would be how they can make their side better.
There will be chart-buster deals that teams will undertake to get long-term benefits to go along with some short-term trades as well as they are important too. Several teams look to acquire experienced players in their side in
order to help them get rid of the obstruction that is preventing them from lifting the Larry O’Brian trophy.
This doesn’t mean that teams would go only after veterans like Monta Ellis or Dwight Howard. Infect this will include veterans with high-profile players, but they are close to retirement or either have a drop in their skill.
Don’t underestimate such veteran candidates, who have a little drop in their skill, as this doesn’t make them incompetent. Such veterans still have the capability to make a huge difference at the end of the day. Therefore NBA teams
must keep their eyes on such potential candidates in the next shopping spree.
Below are such potential veteran players that can turn around the table on any given day.
Keyon Dooling
The 31 year old point guard of the Milwaukee Bucks, Keyon Dooling had spent almost 11 seasons in NBA. This gave him enough experience to be among this list of veterans that can play an important role for any team to win the championship.
Although the 6 ft 3. Was selected as the 10th overall when he was drafted back in 2000 by the Orlando Magic, but he failed to deliver what was expected of him. Since then Dooling was more often used as a role player
and now he holds a good repute in his job.
Dooling maintains a career scoring average of 7.2 per game and had a very good precision in shooting especially from the free throw line he averages .800 percent, while from the three-point region it’s .350 percent. These stats
make Dooling a good contender for any bench that wants to add more depth.
The additional benefit of having Dooling in the side is that he can play on both guard positions. Rival defensive units usually don’t pay much attention to him, therefore when his team-mate passes him the ball, he makes them count.

With good fitness condition and $2.2 million remaining on his contract, Dooling makes a very good deal to get considered as strength to any team’s bench.
