NBA Trade Speculations: Veterans available on the trade circuit (Part 2)
Lamar Odom
The 32 year old forward of the Los Angeles Lakers is among the top candidates that are likely to get a deal from a team that is looking to remove the obstacles in their way to win the championship rings.
The 4th overall pick from the first round of the 1999 National Basketball Association Draft, although didn’t perform as per his grading in the draft. However, still he holds decent stats that make him a reliable push
for the teams that are looking to make it to the next postseason.
Odom has a career scoring average of 14.6 points per game together with healthy average of clutching boards and swatting assists (8.9 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game). These stats makes Odom part of a blockbuster deal that could
enable the Lakers to acquire a superstar for the next season.
Apart from Odom’s scoring, rebounding and assisting skills, he also plays a good defence. However, what adds value to this player is his leadership quality which is rare to find these days. Odom would not only add strength to any
roster, but under his shade younger players could really develop their game.
Lamar with the help of this fine package can surely provide help to any team that is in hot pursuit of the title next season.
Mickael Pietrus
For the teams that are looking for an excellent three-point shooter and a short-term solution, Mickael Pietrus is the best option for them.
The behind calling Pietrus a short-term solution is because the 29 year old had remained an injury prone in major part of his career. It is because of this very problem, Pietrus failed to increase his scoring average, as he had
never played full regular-season.
Besides, being a tremendous shooter from the three-point area the added advantage of having Pietrus in the side is that he can play at three positions. Because of this ability he always remained a serious threat for the opposing
defenders.
Pietrus, who had last played for the Phoenix Suns holds a career average of 8.5 points per game and makes a good pick for short period.
Antawn Jamison
The 35 year old power forward of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Antawn Jamison is also a player, who has a strong scoring average as Lamar Odom do. Infect Jamison’s career scoring average is even better than Odom (19.7 points per game).
His rebounding skill also makes him a serious offensive threat.
Although, Jamison had lost the spark which he used to have when he was a member of the Washington Wizards squad, but he still is a competitive player, who can change the face of the game with his skilful play.
Jamison is a good solution for the young teams that are looking for immediate punch in their offense. As Jamison, is still strong enough to make his way to the rim against any opposing side. He can play some useful minutes on the
court in an assigned role that could be very helpful for any NBA team.
Hopefully his fitness issue will not play on the minds of his suitors. As far as his high salary is concerned that’ll receive a serious hit with the implementation of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. So, one cannot rule
him out of this list of veterans that can push a team into the playoffs.
