NBA Trade Vibes – Most Deserving
Players to watch out (Part – 2) (fixed headline)
Continuing on the list of the players, who most deserve a change of fortunes before the Feb.22, trade deadline expires.
Rashard Lewis - Washington Wizards
Despite the fact, that the status of Rashard Lewis as one of the league’s most menacing power forwards had slowly faded away at the Orlando Magic last season, and bearing in mind that he was undeniably overpaid - an amount of $110 million over a span of
six years – Lewis liked being a member of Magic. Most certainly he couldn’t have had imagined the struggling Washington Wizards on his list of high priorities as a destination.
While the rumours have been rife for the last two months that the twelve year pro might be re-located to some other franchise before NBA’s trade deadline, those rumblings have calmed down a bit more recently. The does not bode well for the sharp-shooting
forward’s career as he could be a lot more helpful on a team, that is actually playing for something.
The Washington Wizards have the worst away games record this season, their lone win coming against the Cleveland Cavaliers just recently. More importantly they are a franchise in the process of rebuilding. Instead of having an old war horse like Lewis, who
also comes with an extremely heavy pay check, they need someone who can carry them through the years to come. The problem, of course, is finding a taker for that monster contract.
In terms of talent however, plenty of elite team teams would love to acquire his services, and he certainly wouldn't mind a change of scenery, either.
Antawn Jamison - Cleveland Cavaliers
In a season filled with losses, injuries and heart breaks, there haven’t been many upsides to the Cleveland Cavaliers. One individual though, who stands apart from the rest of the team is the twelve year power forward, Antawn Jamison. The 6ft-9in veteran
has paced a thin looking Cavaliers offense with 17.7 points and 6.7 rebounds and has been the lone silver-lining in the woeful campaign of the Wine and the Gold this season.
The major problem in the transfer of the dazzling forward though is his huge salary cap of $15 million next season. While the money factor is a major hindrance for a trade to actually happen, Jamison is too good to be rotting on a Cavs team that's going
absolutely nowhere fast.
Richard Hamilton - Detroit Pistons
The treatment meted out to Richard ‘Rip’ Hamilton at the Detroit Pistons is unfathomable, to say the least. The 33 year mercurial guard, who once ruled the league in the early 2000’s and helped the Pistons’ to their first Championship title in 2003, has
been literally reduced to the sidelines this season.
In a season, where the Pistons have are struggling to even scratch a win, Hamilton has been left frustrated on the bench. In the last ten games alone, he has been only allowed an average playing time of 20.0 minutes by Coach John Kuester, and that's nowhere
near enough for a guy with his ability.
With such a drastic change of fortune in both his and Pistons fortune’s in the recent year, it’s high time for ‘Rip’ to make this move, to salvage the twilight of his career.
