NBA Trade deadline - Players who should move (Part 3)
There hasn’t been much hype regarding the NBA's transfer window this season, other than the much touted trade of Denver Nuggets guard, Carmelo Anthony to the New York Knicks.
In this part, we will continue with the list of players who deserve a change in playing scenario, the most.
Steve Nash - Phoenix Suns
One of the most prolific swingmen in the league, Steve Nash is noted for his tremendous playmaking, ball-handling and shooting skills. Even though he is in his late 30’s, the ageless Canadian is still a force to reckon with.
His tenure with the Phoenix Suns however is fast becoming an ordeal. When he joined the franchise from the Dallas Mavericks in 2004, the Suns were ranked as one of the elite teams in the league. However, with the departure of several high profile players
like Shaquille O’ Neal in the following years, they don’t seem to be heading anywhere close to landing a championship title.
In fact, it’s high time that the Phoenix Suns rebuild and re-organise. If that's what they decide to do - and they should - a happy side effect would be Nash potentially ending up on a team with a shot at winning the championship.  It’s a shame that a player
of Nash’s caliber hasn’t graced an NBA Final yet.
To add further fuel to the fire, there have been rumours that Nash is not happy with the Suns roster. That concern was however, allayed to some extent when his franchise brought in Vince Carter, Mickael Pietrus and Marcin Gortat from the Orlando Magic as
a part of a seven man deal.
The Sun’s sudden resurgence in the 2010-11 season, with seven wins in their last 10 contests might also help them in retaining Nash, at least for this season.
Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace – Charlotte Bobcats
Ace Charlotte guard Stephen Jackson and small forward Gerald Wallace make up a unique group of elite players that are quite happy at their present franchise. However, the financial constraints of the franchise, are fast paving way for the exit of the highly
paid stars.
Jackson still has two years and $19 million left on his contract after this season, and Wallace is owed about $21 million during that period. It is for this very reason that the two pillars of the South Eastern franchise have been at the centre of transfer
rumours.
Their cases are not helped by the fact that the Bobcats owner and majority share holder, Michael Jordan has made 13 trades involving 35 players, since taking charge in 2006.
The last time Jordan made a transaction involving Tyson Chandler to essentially slip under the luxury tax threshold; it eventually gave way to the resignation of veteran coach Larry Brown. While the Bobcats’ new coach Paul Silas is happy with the Wallace-Jackson
combination, it remains to be seen whether Jordan will make the grand move or not.
