NBA Transfer Season: Where will LeBron James go?
LeBron James has caused humungous waves in the transfer season of the National Basketball League (NBA). Just like people across the globe couldn’t get enough of Millennium Jordan, neither can the franchises get enough of the player. LeBron James has embedded his name deeply into the league, by forcing every major team to become more than desperate to sign him. Although his carer did not start long ago, LeBron James has not ceased to throw a heart clenching, breath taking, jaw dropping performance in every match that he has played in the 2010 season.
The much awaited free agency period has opened with a bang and LeBron is the most wanted player that has hit the market. Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade Jr. and Germany’s Dirk Nowitzki are some other players who are selling like hot cakes at the moment. Almost every franchise is rethinking about their salary caps only to buy The King in their team.
Rod Thorn, President of New Jersey Nets said, “There have been big-time free agents before, but never this many teams that are trying to woo them. So it's unprecedented”.
In another move, Joe Johnson might be planning to visit the New York Knicks and the Atlanta Hawks who are offering him the maximum salary at the moment. On the other hand, the management at the New Jersey Nets and the Knicks plan on coming down to Ohio to meet LeBron James which shows the importance of the King.
Nowitzki plans on meeting with the teams in Dallas. On the other hand, the New York Knicks stated on their twitter account that they plan on meeting with Mike Miller in Los Angeles without Donnie Walsh, who is the President of the team. The move is being scheduled because Donnie plans on meeting with LeBron James in Ohio on this Thursday.
The 6-foot-10-inch Amar'e Stoudemire is another star who will meet the teams in California, while Pat Riley is packing his bags to join him as well. The first few days of July are unquestionably going to be extremely wild for the National Basketball League.
On the other hand, Cleveland Cavaliers General Manager Neil Olshey recently stated that they plan on meeting with LeBron James and had also contacted a number of other players. Neil Olshey said, “At that time, we intend to present the many reasons why his joining our organization is the best possible choice he could make”.
President of New Jersey Nets Rod Thorn, rap mogul Jay-Z and Coach Avery Johnson are heading to Ohio to meet with LeBron James as well. The New York Nets are planning on calling dibs on the superstar with a rich celebrity like Jay-Z supporting them; who is not only a long time friend of James but partially owns the New York Nets as well. Experts predict that the rap star can certainly afford LeBron James with ease.
Nevertheless, it’s a pool filled with teams who can afford the player at the moment but there is so much competition for James that it would really be hard to determine where the King would end up after the season starts. Miami Heat, New Jersey Nets, Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks and the L.A. Clippers have all swooped in to sign LeBron James. Experts predict that the player could definitely draw bids worth $16 million with ease.
The talk of James is uncertain as of now and answers to what team will he join has been changing by the minute. Former players predict that he will be heading to Miami Heat and plans on making a duo with Wade. Media reports on the other hand predict that LeBron will sign with the Chicago Bulls without any doubt. Rumours upon rumours seem to be surfacing each day.
So what’s the conclusion? If James decides on renewing his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, he could draw out more than $ 90 million if he stays with them for the next 4 years. He could possibly get over a $100 million if he sticks to the losers for another 6 years. But that could hold him from winning a championship, because the Cleveland Cavaliers are weak. LeBron James needs to move to a team from where he can obtain the championship title rather than the money at hand.
