Memphis Grizzlies 102 – Philadelphia 76ers 91
Mike Conley scored all 22 of his points in the second half to lead the Memphis Grizzlies past the Philadelphia 76ers 102-91 at FedEx Forum in Memphis on Tuesday night.
Zach Randolph played well as he had 21 points and 10 rebounds for Memphis, along with a season-high seven assists. Meanwhile, Sam Young added 12 points and Rudy g*y had 11 points for the Grizzlies, who remained unbeaten in their last four games.
Thaddeus Young did all he could as he scored a game-high 23 points, while Lou Williams came off the bench to score 18 points for the Sixers, who lost their 29th game of the 2010-11 season. Elton Brand finished with 13 points, while Jrue Holiday
had 10 points and five assists for Philadelphia, who have lost their 20th game on the road.
Memphis went on an 8-2 run early in the opening quarter to take full control of the contest. The Sixers played sloppy basketball, providing the Grizzlies with an opportunity to take a 26-10 lead into the second. Philadelphia got going offensively in the
second quarter and fought hard to cut the deficit to as few points as they could. However, Memphis maintained a 55-44 advantage going into the locker room.
The 76ers regained their sizzling shooting touch in the third quarter, eventually capping out at 31 points while limiting the Grizzlies to just 22 points. The Sixers managed to get to within two points of Memphis at 77-75 when the buzzer sounded for the
third stanza.
The Grizzlies came out strongly in the fourth as they went on a 10-2 run to reclaim a 10-point lead; an advantage they maintained for much of the quarter to seal their 31st victory of the current season.
Oklahoma City Thunders 126 – Sacramento Kings 96
Seven Oklahoma City Thunders players finished in double figures as the hosts thrashed the Sacramento Kings 126-96 at the Oklahoma City Arena on Tuesday night.
Daequan Cook scored a team-high 20 points off the bench, while Russell Westbrook contributed 10 points and 11 assists for the Thunders, who won their 35th game of the 2010-11 season. Kevin Durant had 17 points while Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic
added 16 points each for Oklahoma City, who led by as many 25 points in beating the Kings for the second time in four days.
DeMarcus Cousins led Sacramento with a game-high 21 points and 13 rebounds in the defeat. Omri Casspi added 14 points while guard Pooh Jeter scored 13 points for the Kings, who lost their 39th game of the current season.
Jason Thompson, Beno Udrih, and Donte Greene registered 10 points each for Sacramento, who saw their three game road winning streak come to end.
Oklahoma got off to a quick start as they went on a 6-0 run, which included an opening diving slam dunk shot from Westbrook. The Kings fought hard to control the increasing deficit but the Thunders once again went on a 6-0 run to take a 37-24 lead into the
second.
Oklahoma City extended their strong defensive play to the second quarter as they went on a 13-0 run to take an 18-point (50-68) advantage into the locker room.
Oklahoma’s fast start in the third quarter extended the lead to 24 points midway through the third, to allow the Thunders to comfortably seal the game in the final quarter.
