NBA Update: 1st Half Analysis: Houston Rockets vs. Denver Nuggets
1st Quarter
As per game policy, the ball was jumped between two starters of the game, Nene Hilario and Grant Hill. Chauncey Billups dunked in to gain possession of the ball for the Denver Nuggets. Louis Scola missed a jump shot and then rebounded the ball back. He missed
a running hook shot as Nene blocked the shot at 11:18 minutes on the clock. Carmelo Anthony grabbed a rebound immediately for the Nuggets.
Shane Battier made a layup shot for the Rockets to clinch their first two points. Nene trounced a fade away jumper shot to make it 4-2 for the Nuggets. Scola appeared from the side right at that moment and with Kevin Martin’s (Rockets) assist he pulled out
a jump shot.
Kyle Lowry added three more as Scola gave him an assist at 7 minutes on the clock. Nuggets reconciled with a jump shot, Kenyon Martin was at the rim and Anthony assisted him. Martin (Rockets) clinched a three pointer as Battier fished out an assist to make
it 10-11. Andre Miller committed a shooting foul for the Nuggets with four minutes in second quarter. Nene grabbed one of the two free throws provided. Scola’s layup shot assisted by Lowry gave the Rockets one point lead over the Nuggets. Scores were tied
19-all after Billups pounced a technical free throw provided.
Scola grabbed a jump shot at the end of the first quarter and the Nuggets led the Rockets, 25-21.
2nd Quarter
Courtney Lee froze as he missed a layup shot for the Rockets at the very start of the second quarter. The missed shot was followed by a rebound and a shooting foul from the Nuggets’ end. Lee grabbed one of the two free throws they were given. Lawson made
a jump shot, the Nuggets still leading by five points. Miller clinched a three pointer as Lee dished out an assist for him.
Aaron Afflalo made a fade away jumper shot taking the scores further for the Nuggets, 29-25. Lee arrived with a layup shot with 9 minutes in second half as Brooks gave his second assist of the game to get closer to the Nuggets, 27-29.
Brooks clinched a three pointer that edged the Rockets past Nuggets, 36-31. Billups committed a personal foul with seconds left in second half that resulted in a free throw attempt from the Rockets. Scores were tied on 52-all by the end of first half.
