NBA Update: 1st Half Analysis: Philadelphia 76ers vs. Phoenix Suns
1st Quarter
Both the teams reined against each other on the box flaring energy and the ball was jumped between Robin Lopez (Phoenix Suns) and Spencer Hawes (Sixers) when Jrue Holiday jumped ahead to gain possession of the ball for the Sixers.
Elton Brand missed the initial jump shot for the Sixers and Grant Hill immediately grabbed a rebound for the Suns. It was Andres Nocioni’s hook shot that earned the Sixers their first two points, followed by Steve Nash’s driving reverse layup shot for the
Suns. Scores were tied at 4-all and 6-all and the first foul was committed by Brand followed by a turnover to the Suns.
Jodie Meeks (Sixers) committed a shooting foul with 6 minutes on the clock and Lopez took hold of both the free throws provided. Nash executed a three pointer to give the Suns another lead 17-15 over the Sixers.
End of 1st Quarter
A number of jump shots transcended at the end of the 1st quarter gave the Suns a two point lead over the Sixers, 35-33.
2nd Quarter
Vince Carter (Suns) missed a jump shot at the very beginning of the 2nd quarter and Young grabbed a rebound for the Sixers right after. Louis Williams made a running jump shot that tied the scores at 35-all. Goran Dragic’s shooting foul gave the
Sixers another free throw that Williams grabbed immediately.
Nash gave a bad pass to the Sixers with 8 minutes in regulation and Hawes stole the ball for the Sixers passing it to Nocioni who quickly regulated a layup shot assisted by Williams giving the Sixers another one point lead over the Suns, 43-42.
Jared Dudley’s three pointer assisted by Nash tied the scores at 45-all followed by Thaddeus Young’s foul.
Channing Frye committed a shooting foul for the Suns and gave the Sixers another chance of grabbing some free throws. Brand grabbed both the free throws provided and Hakim Warrick arrived with a slam dunk shot for the Suns, assisted by Hill with 3 minutes
left in the second half.
Miackael Pietrus clinched a three pointer for the Suns, assisted once again by Hill; the scores were 58-60.
End of 2nd Quarter
Pietrus clinched another three pointer and the teams were Sixers, 66 and Suns, 65.
