NBA Update: 2nd half – Phoenix Suns vs. Philadelphia 76ers
Third quarter
Grant Hill committed a shooting foul for the Suns and gave the Sixers a chance to tie and then lead the Suns 68-67 after Jodie Meeks took hold of both the free throws.
Hill assisted as the 33-year-old Vince Carter made a jump shot to take a one-point lead over the Sixers 69-68. Carter made a driving layup shot that gave the Suns a three-point lead over Sixers 71-68. Elton Brand savoured both the free throws that came Sixers
way after Hill committed a shooting foul for the Suns.
Andres Nocioni made a layup shot that was assisted by Thaddeus Young and Jared Dudley committed a shooting foul right after. Nocioni grabbed the free throw for Sixers immediately and Turner made a jump shot assisted by Hawes at the very end of second quarter,
giving them a 92-86 lead.
Fourth quarter
Hawes missed a jump shot in the beginning of the last quarter. Young grabbed a rebound for the Sixers right after that and Mickael Pietrus committed a shooting foul that earned the Sixers a free throw.
Pietrus grabbed a jump shot as Marcin Gortat gave him an assist. Sixers were leading the Suns 93-88 by that time. Pietrus committed a shooting foul and Young grabbed both the free throws that came his way taking the lead further to 97-90.
Goran Dragic committed a shooting foul followed by the first technical foul of the game for the Suns and Evan Turner grabbed two more free throws for the Sixers, taking them from 97 to 100.
Gortat’s free throws came oozing after Turner committed a shooting foul for the Sixers with six minutes left in game. Nash missed a jump shot and rebounded the ball right after.
Nash clinched a three pointer for the Suns, followed by a jump shot by Brand for the Sixers, and the scores were 110-102.
The Sixers never trailed after that and the box score seemed to flatter under the game by Turner and Brand. Philadelphia 76ers sealed the game with a 13-point lead at the end, 123-110.
