A new coach and three straight losses: what should the Charlotte Bobcats do?
Bobcats look to welcome the Detroit Pistons on their home ground Monday night at the Time Warner Cable Arena, Charlotte, NC.
After a coach change and being handed over to new coach Paul Silas, the Bobcats still have a long journey to cover. The team remains winless even after Larry Brown stepped out and resigned as the coach of Michael Jordan’s team. Even M.J doesn’t influence
the team much and they are in a dire need of proper help, lots of practice and strong defense. Silas who used to be the coach of Charlotte Hornets now coaches the Bobcats temporarily until the team finds a permanent coach, “It’s a dream come true.” The coach
said after he was appointed the Bobcats coach.
The coach, now 67, has coached the Hornets for five seasons; the last one was in the 2002-03 season after the team was moved to New Orleans from Charlotte. The last time Silas coached an NBA team was Cleveland Cavaliers in 2005.
The Charlotte Bobcats still lose their game even after the change of coach. Its true that a change of coach does not change what’s written in a team’s fate.
The Bobcats lost 85-90 against the Atlanta Hawks on Dec, 17, 75-108 against the Washington Wizards on Dec, 20 when finally Larry Brown stepped down as their coach and after that OKC trounced them 99-81 on Dec, 21.
The Detroit Pistons have been lucky in the last two matchups except for one. They lost their previous game while playing against the Chicago Bulls 95-92 and won the previous two. Toronto Raptors saw a 93-115 loss against the Pistons on Dec, 22 and they trounced
a 111-108 lead against the New Orleans Hornets on Dec, 19.
The Bobcats rank as the 29th team in the NBA and they are averaging 91.8 points per game. The new coach is intent on improving this score, he is looking forward to turn his team into an up tempo and offensive one. The team has averaged 80.2 points
in the previous four games.
"I want to bring some energy to this ball club," The new coach confessed. "I want us to get up and down and let it all hang out. If they don't want to get up and down, they can come sit down by me. The guys just have to get out and
play and believe in themselves and believe that I believe in them. I've found that if you have a confident player, it's unbelievable what he can do."
Stephen Jackson is averaging 17.3 points per game. He believes in his new coach’s system and is confident about it. The player had an average of 20 points while playing against the Golden State Warriors from 2007-09.
Jackson who is team leader of the Bobcats seems thinks that there is hope for his team to improve and is looking at his team from a positive angle. He is confident about his teammates and said that if they follow the footsteps of the new coach they can achieve
what they are looking for.
The Charlotte Bobcats have a two home game edge over the Detroit Pistons who are 10-20. They lost 97-90 when Detroit was hosting the game on Nov. 5. Jackson had scooped 28 points in the game but even that couldn’t save them from drowning.
Ben Gordon (Detroit Pistons) has an average of 25.5 games during Piston’s last four matchups with the Charlotte Bobcats. He scored 20 points on Nov. 5, and he calculated 11 points as he went taking 4 of 13 shots.
