NBA Update: Charlotte Bobcats outscore the Washington Wizards 93-85
Gerald Wallace successfully scored 25 points and 14 rebounds on Friday night as the Bobcats flash past the Washington Wizards and took a victory over them. Gerald Wallace played was in the forefront of the Bobcats as he challenged the No. 1 overall pick
John Wall and was among the top players of the game.
The game took place at the home ground of Washington Wizards in Verizon Center. The arena was crowded with 14855 basketball fans who watched the match for 2:12.
Among the inactive players were Derrick Brown, Dominic McGuire, and Eduardo Najera from the Bobcats. Inactive from the Wizards team were Josh Howard, Lester Hudson, and Hamady N'Diaye.
The lead changed as many as eight times as both the teams battled each other to get the ball dribbling under their hands. The game was tied two times only.
The Bobcats were in full form and were completely terrific as they overcame as many as 24 turnovers with their 48-30 rebounding advantage. In the fourth quarter, they were superb with their 10-0 run. Over the final 6:10, they had already surpassed the Wizards
by 17-7 as a result of a reverse layup. Wallace outsmarted the other players as he grabbed his own free throw adding to his rebounds during the stretch run.
Gerald Wallace scored 25 points, Boris Diaw scored 19 and D. J. Augutin added 17 and 10 assists to the Bobcats score. Andray Blatche scored 22 points, Kirk Hinrich scored 14 and John Wall had 13 points, 11 assists and four steals. John Wall could not make
as many triple doubles as the night before on Wednesday against Houston Rockets though. He also found it difficult to find his shots during the play. John Wall has a double-double in four of his first seven games.
Gilbert Arenas could only score five points and he made six rebounds and went 2 for 14 from the field.
The first three quarters went very smoothly as none of the teams led the other team by more than 10. The game was tied at 78 at the end of third quarter with 5 minutes to go after Diaw hit a three pointer and this gave the Bobcats a lead for the good. Wallace
received a reverse layup from D.J. Augustin that he followed very well. After that Augustin completed the 3-0 run with his 3-pointer that helped put the Bobcats ahead of the Wizards 86-78 with only 3:31 remaining.
Wall was there to rescue his team after the Bobcats took the lead over the Wizards. When there came a two minute stretch in the second quarter it was Wall who was eye catching in the three plays. He tossed an alley oop to Ja Vale McGee when the Bobcats took
over the game. He was the one who made a halfcourt alley-oop to McGee, who took ages to dunk the ball over the shoulder with his right hand.
Wall made nine assists before halftime that gives him minimum seven assists in his first games. Only Oscar Robertson had been successful in accomplishing that back in 1960 with 10 in a row. In this game Augustin missed a free throw finally and ended in a
22 for 22 starting to the season.
FUN FACTS
The Washington Wizards kept their fans standing until they scored their first point. This was not a good idea considering the short attendance at the Verizon Center. The fans kept standing and praying for their team to make a point because the Wizards missed
their first NINE shots and they had to keep standing until 3:20.
