NBA Update: Experts team grading for the year 2010
The free-agency saga has finally ended; experts were left to discuss some incredible deals, bad deals, trading and some bargain signings.
Basketball enthusiasts say this year was the most make or break period ever in the NBA history. There were many big names on the market which franchises had been planning to bank on since years, waiting for this crucial occasion. Most were left upset but some got lucky, Miami Heat was able to persuade three of the most wanted stars in the NBA to join them, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
This summer has surely taught us how things are never certain, some players got over $20 million, which they did not deserve. Yet some players for the love of the game took pay-cuts just so they could form stronger teams.
Many experts have graded the teams of this year by adding their free-agency player wins and losses, their overall statistics from this year’s playoffs and their over predicted performance.
The New Jersey Nets, a team owned by a Russian billionaire named Mikhail Prokhorov and famous American rapper Jay-Z, who were also in the rat race, thinking they could easily land in James, Bosh and Dwayne to their team but were unable to do so. However, the team still managed to sign on some notable players such as Jordan Famer from the Los Angeles Lakers, Travis Outlaw from the Portland Trail Blazers and drafted Derrick Favors, as the third pick overall in the 2010 drafting season. Experts say the team that only won 12 games have taken a smart decision by giving a whole new outlook to the team by adding a new coach, new philosophy and most of all a new line-up, giving them a C+ grade overall.
Orlando Magic is a consistent team who never cease to make it to the playoffs but lamentably never end up winning it. Orlando drafted Daniel Orton is someone who can make his way through like Dwight Howard, with his sheer size and agility, followed by re-signing on J.J Reddick was real win for the team. Reddick has ensured the team they don’t have to worry about the Offense. Although Orlando lost Matt Barnes to the Los Angeles Lakers, which was a big hit to the team, due to which the team grades up to a B overall. However, experts say they still have got what it takes to win a title.
The Chicago Bulls might have been a team which unfortunately missed on LeBron James, but they did not lose hope and signed  on to a power forward Carlos Boozer  and Kyle Krover, who is widely known has a three-point machine. The Bulls also brought C.J Watson and Ronnie Brewer to the bench to add more depth to it. Experts conclude that the addition of Boozer teaming up with Derrick Rose, who is the team’s starter point guard, has completed the empty team. Making them a grade A team.
Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers, two teams which even the critics can’t deny deserve an A+. Miami Heat this season were the biggest winners, they signed on LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade, Mike Miller, Zydrunas Ilguaskas, Udonis Haslem and the list goes on, making them virtually the strongest team in the NBA with players under the age of 30. Basketball enthusiast say there is not much to say much to say about the Miami Heat, they are unquestionably the most successful team in the NBA, by locking up three of the biggest superstars.
On the other hand, Los Angeles Lakers might have lost Jordon Farmar and Josh Powell but they still are the undisputed winners of two NBA Championship Titles back to back, this year and the last. Los Angeles were amongst the few teams who did not go prowling in the free-agency for beef, as they already have two of the biggest stars Kobe Bryant and Ron Artest, who are the pillars of the team. The Lakers reeled in Derrick Fisher and Matt Barnes, re-signing a swift point guard like Fisher and a dynamic forward like Matt Barnes just added depth to the team. Experts say without any extra additions to team, the Lakers are strong enough and are going to be making a run for the title next year as well without any doubt.
