NBA Update: First Half Analysis: New York Knicks vs. Phoenix Suns
The New York Knicks have entered the new decade with a solid resolution. The team has revived a magnificent demeanour and they are linking the broken links once again.
First Quarter
The game started with a three pointer that Landry Fields clinched right after Raymond Felton gained possession of the ball for the Knicks. The ball was jumped between starters of both the teams, Josh Childress and Amar’e Stoudemire. Knicks started with 3-0
and Vince Carter nailed an alley oop dunk shot with Grant Hill’s assist to drive a 2-3 start. But that was not all; Felton clinched a three pointer at that very moment for the Knicks again. Hill trounced a layup shot as Steve Nash gave him an assist to make
it 4-8 for the Suns.
Tyson Chandler’s turnaround jump shot edged the Knicks with a 10 point lead over the Suns, 3:51 on the clock. A jump shot clinched by Stoudemire with maximum power moments after that edged them 22-14 over the Suns.
End of 1st Quarter
Ronny Turiaf committed a personal foul that gave the Suns a free throw. Toney Douglas replied to the foul with a three pointer. The New York Knicks wrapped up a 30-22 first quarter lead over Phoenix Suns.
Second Quarter
The Suns had rebound the ball at the end of first quarter and Marcin Gortat committed an offensive foul at the very beginning. It seemed like that it initiated a tirade of fouls and turnovers from both the teams. Only it was Goran Dragic’s jump shot that
heaved up two points for the Suns, relaxing the audience that the foul period is over. Again after that both the teams witnessed a series of blocks and missed shots from (Knicks) Douglas, Stoudemire and (Suns) Dragic.
Shawne Williams earned the Knicks a three pointer as Felton pulled out his third assist. Fields’ three pointer gave the Knicks a 12 point lead over the Suns, 43-31. Hakim Warrick’s dunk shot and then a jump shot both assisted by Nash closed the Suns to Knicks,
37-47. Chandler clinched a layup shot followed by Felton’s three pointer to make it 53-39. Nash answered with a driving layup shot and Carter gained a jump shot to close it to 43-53 again.
End of First Half
Turiaf committed a personal foul that gave the Suns a free throw attempt, which Warrick dished out with ease. Knicks took a 10 point lead over the Suns, 55-45.
