NBA Update: Hall of Famer Doc Rivers comes out in the support of Derrick Rose for the MVP award
All-Star guard Derrick Rose’s surge for the coveted ‘Most Valuable Player’ award received a huge boost on Wednesday when the Hall of famer Boston Celtics’ coach Doc Rivers endorsed him for the laurel.
The Boston Celtics coach was in Chicago on Tuesday as his son Austin Rivers received the nation’s top high school player award.
Austin, who has already created some ripples with his comment "I don’t want to just meet LeBron, I want to destroy him on the court one day." went to United Center to meet the former Celtics assistant Tom Thibodeau, head coach
of Chicago Bulls. Junior River said that there are a lot of great players who are performing exceptionally well however if he has to choose one man, it will be Rose.
Doc Rivers, who grew up on the fringes of Chicago, backed his sons comment and said.
“Derrick Rose is the best player this year in the NBA. I think he'll be the MVP, and when you have the MVP on your team, you're usually pretty good.”
The 22 year old star point guard has yet to initiate the expansion of his professional presence. However, he is improving incredibly as the season passes by, and is one of the main reason why Chicago currently reign the Eastern
Conference and are one of the favourite contender to bag the Championship this season.
Rose, is one of the few basketball superstars who have assisted the team on the top alone. His career-high 42 against the leading team of the season San Antonio Spurs shows his immense ability to dominate anytime. Although he faces
tough competition from the two times reigning MVP LeBron James, the thing going in his favour is that he has single handily orchestrated the rise of the Bulls. Whereas, the self proclaimed King, James graces the court in the company of Dwayane Wade and Chris
Bosh.
Rivers believes that Derrick has earned the honour of league’s best player and his emergence as an MVP contender is the reason for Bulls to stand among the best teams in the Eastern Conference.
Michael Jordan is regarded as the most memorable Chicago Bulls Player ever in the history with his belligerent charisma on the court. Jordan’s name became one of the most prominent sports brand in the world due to his outstanding
track record and inspirational persona. After since Bulls struggled to dominate until Derrick Rose’s remarkable appearance this season changed things for the team.
Derrick Rose’s emergence as an MVP contender assisted Bulls to enjoy their best season since Jordan Championship Era. Capturing 48 wins already puts the team in a tie for the first spot in the East with Celtics, a team that River
coaches.
The consensus supports Rose for the Most Valuable Player and so do the legendary coach Rivers. It will be a huge challenge for Derrick to stand out in the upcoming playoffs where he will be opposed by the season’s best line-ups.
