NBA Update: Houston Rockets guard Aaron Brooks penitent over his court leaving act
Aaron Brooks has expressed his regret to the Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey and Coach Rick Adelman for leaving the bench on Saturday night in a game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The 26 year old point guard was suspended by the team management for one game due to his act. He apologized to the team and mentioned that he was agitated with his playing time.
"I apologized to the coaches, I apologized to the GM," Brooks said. "It's just something that's not part of me. People who know me are probably shocked by it. I made a bad decision, bad timing. That was probably the worst thing
I could do at that time.
The incident took place midway through the fourth quarter, when Adelman substituted Brooks with Kyle Lowry. The substitution which took place when 6:45 were still remaining in the final quarter got the Houston point guard completely
flustered. He walked straight to the locker room after the coach’s decision and did not return. His total playing time for the game was 14 minutes and 22 seconds in which he amassed 6 points.
Coach Rick Adelman said on Tuesday, “I told him that when I took him out, it wasn't just him,". "The game was slipping the other way. I put, what I thought, were our five best players to turn it around and win the game. And we
did."
Adelman decision proved to be the right one as the Rockets make a comeback to take the game into overtime and win it there.
Brooks was picked in the first round of the 2007 draft by Houston Rockets. Rick Adelman was hired a month before he joined the franchise and the two of them have had a very healthy relation up until Saturday night. Brooks acknowledged
the fact, that Adelman has been the one who has helped him mature into a decent player and hoped that the incident does not damage their relationship.
Brooks might become a restricted free agent at the end of the season provided Houston Rockets make a qualifying offer. He however confirmed his intentions to stay with the team. Aaron Brook was voted as the improved player in the
last season. He is shooting 30 percent from 3-point range and 36.7 percent from the field this season.  He missed 24 games in the beginning of the season due to sprained ankle. He has the potential to become a better player and should work on controlling aggression.
Brooks need to show with his game that he is eligible to be given more play time. The season is still wide open so he must put a superior game in the upcoming meetings to become an integral part of the team.
