NBA Update – Kobe Bryant plus Carmelo Anthony’s futures and LeBron James (Part 1)
Kobe Bryant knows well who would emerge victorious if he and LeBron James were to compete one-on-one.
This Saturday, Kobe visited a basketball school in London and when he was asked there as to whom would win if it was him versus LeBron, Kobe replied in no time that he would definitely win. Such is the confidence of this player, who already has 5 titles
under his belt while he looks strong this season too.
With Miami Heat set to kick off their Preseason today, LeBron would surely be asked the same question. One would have to wait and see how he responds as he has mostly remained silent up till now.
Carmelo Anthony Denies Interest in New Jersey Nets:
Last week, it had been reported that Carmelo Anthony has no interest in being traded away from Denver Nuggets. But this week, Carmelo has himself clearly stated that he didn’t want to be traded to New Jersey Nets. In an interview, he said that winning is
the biggest and most effective way of furthering his brand.
Carmelo was asked as to why he wanted to go to a team that only managed 12 wins last season. In his reply, Carmelo Anthony said that he never wanted to go to New Jersey Nets.
Kobe Bryant won’t be fully fit at the start of new NBA season:
One of the key players for Los Angeles, Kobe Bryant’s health is the thing that concerns many more than anything.
Kobe wasn’t at the top of his game this Monday when Los Angeles Lakers lost to Minnesota Timberwolves. He only played for 6 minutes and Lakers looked rugged after he went off the field.
Now the Head Coach of Lakers, Phil Jackson has confirmed that Kobe won’t be 100% fit when the regular season gets underway. This July saw Kobe operated on his knee that restricted him to limited time in the training camp.
Jackson commented that Kobe would definitely be in the starting line up when the regular season starts but he would see less minutes on the court in the first few weeks.
LeBron James' response:
LeBron made headlines by his move to Miami Heat. Most of the times criticized for what he did, this player now wants the NBA season to start soon so that he could prove all his critics wrong.
Recently, Charles Barkley also gave a statement critical of LeBron. Not only he accused LeBron of being selfish but also added that LeBron has joined those players who were supposed to be his competitors. By forming an alliance with them, LeBron has shown
that he can’t handle the heat.
In his reply, LeBron maintained that he had no idea as to why Barkley said all this and he himself was confused. He didn’t want to elaborate on the statement and said that let us wait and see if he was right or the others.
Tony Parker, San Antonio Spurs' forever?
Tony Parker is one of the best players in NBA with 3 titles under his belt. This extravagant player wants to keep playing for San Antonio Spurs till the end of his career.
But this seems unlikely and another legendary player, Manu Ginobilli agrees to it. Tony now wants a new contract offer from Spurs. He is expected to earn around US$ 13 million this season.
On the other hand, Spurs with their aging squad would be looking to bring in young players. If this turns out to be the case, then Tony's next destination could be the New York Knicks.
