NBA Update: Kobe Hopeful to be part of US 2012 Olympics team
Kobe Bryant has offered his services for the 2012 Olympics team. That announcement came from Lakers’ star, when he went on Krzyzewski’s radio program on Tuesday. Bryant is a question mark for 2012 Olympics because he will be 34 when those Olympics roll
around, and Team USA might want to go in a more youthful direction.
“You Guys want me there, I am there, and I am ready to defend, .... And then when you guys need me to put some points on the board, I will do that too... It’s a huge honour to be part of that ”
Bryant said the on show.
USA national coach Mike Krzyzewski has already started recruiting for 2012 Olympics, which are going to be held in London this time. Kobe will be 34 years by then but still he wants to play for national side. Coach Mike is recruiting new college players
and is not looking for big stars so far from NBA (National Basketball Association). He is considered as one of the best coach currently, and he got that status by always making new combinations and new players who produce great results for him.
Beijing (Olympics) team consisted of Kobe, LeBron James, Dywane Wade, Carmelo Anthony , Dwight Howard and Chris Paul. All have been skipped when the team was selected for this year’s Istanbul tournament, where the USA won world championship. But Kobe wants
to defend their Olympic Gold Medal.
Bryant started his career in International Basketball when he was selected for United States national team in 2006 before 2007 FIBA Americas Championship. Kobe was part of that champion team who won 10-0 in FIBA in 2007 and qualified for Beijing Olympics
2008. Kobe’s international average of scoring per game is 16.3 PPG and 2.2 rebounds per game 3.1 steal per game. Kobe’s current accuracy of international shooting percentage is 530.
Kobe’s International achievements so far in his career are winning gold medal in FIBA Americas Championship in 2007 and another gold medal in Beijing Olympics 2008. Playing for the national team in any sports is an honour, representing your country your
team flag in international arena is dream of every athlete. Kobe Bryant has shown his interest once again to be part of US squad for 2012 Olympics.
“It’s a huge honour to be part of that,” Bryant said. “You get a chance to see and meet the greatest athletes in the world, aside from just the basketball part of it and being with a great group of guys. It is an opportunity to meet some of
the best at what they do. It’s great for me. I get a chance to talk to them and meet them and go to their events and watch new sports. It’s just a blast ”
