NBA Update – Los Angeles Lakers lose 92-74 against the Utah Jazz
The Los Angeles Lakers were up against the Utah Jazz this past Tuesday at the Honda City Centre, home to the Utah Jazz. The match saw the Los Angeles Lakers determined the game after not starting off the season as well as they were expected to. There were
around 15,000 fans that came to the arena in support of their respective teams.
1st Quarter
The opening points of the quarter were scored by the Los Angeles Lakers when Kobe Bryant scored from the free throw line to bag 2 points. Al Jefferson was the first point’s scorer for the Utah Jazz who bagged an early 2 pointer to tie the score.
Among the other players who scored for the Los Angeles Lakers was Ron Artest, who came up with splendid shots during the course of the quarter. On the other hand, Pau Gasol who is one of the key elements in Lakers success now days also came up with 2 points
at the end of the period. All these players scored points but only to take the total points of the Los Angeles Lakers to 14 points.
The Utah Jazz dominated play and came up with some extravagant play during the quarter that saw many applauding fans. With the home court to their advantage, the Utah Jazz came up with superb plays and at times managed to outplay the Los Angeles Lakers.
During the quarter, the Utah Jazz’s main points came from Al Jefferson, who ended the quarter with 6 points as the Utah Jazz led going into the break with the score 24-14.
2nd Quarter
The 2nd period saw a little improvement in the Los Angeles Lakers game as they ended the period after scoring 18 points. What was commendable was the fact that the Lakers formed a brilliant defence that the Utah Jazz couldn’t pass.
This resulted in a terrible performance by the Utah Jazz during the quarter as they could only manage to score 14 points during the quarter. For the Lakers, it was Shannon Brown who came up with most points during the quarter after he managed to score 6
points. The change in roster helped the Lakers but they just didn’t seem to click and combine together. The Lakers couldn’t give it the best shot and do as good as they can.
For the Utah Jazz the terrible quarter saw resistance from only Miles who bagged in a three-pointer right at the death to take his personal score to 9 points at the end of the 2nd quarter. The quarter ended with the Utah Jazz leading 38-32.
3rd Quarter
The third quarter saw Pau Gasol score the first points in the quarter for the Lakers. Gasol scored through a splendid dunk shot. This was followed by two more amazing slam dunk shots by Ron Artest and Kobe Bryant. The Lakers showed some quality at the start
but again failed to capitalize on it and ended t he quarter scoring only 18 points compared to t he 24 points of the Utah Jazz. During the quarter, Kobe bagged a brilliant three pointer that took his personal score to 7 for the night. Pau Gasol ended the quarter
after taking his personal score to 11 points, as the Los Angeles Lakers were trailing the Utah Jazz into the break with the score on 57-46.
The main resistance for the Utah Jazz came from Al Jefferson who ended the quarter with the quarter after scoring 13 points.
4th Quarter
During the last quarter, it was the Shannon Brown who scored most of the points and ended his night after scoring 11 points. For the Utah Jazz it was Williams who scored 9 points during the course of the quarter. Miles also ended the night after scoring
14 points.
The Utah Jazz won the match 82-74 as the Los Angeles Lakers lost another match on the preseason road thus far.
“Our first group is playing pretty good,'' said Williams, who had 10 points and five assists.
“The timing is still not there, but for the most part, we played hard and played together. We're in a good position for this point in the season.''
