NBA Update: Miami Heat 101 - New Jersey Nets 78 (Recap)
The beaming 2-0 season start of New Jersey Nets beclouded on Sunday after being defeated by Miami Heat 101-78 at the Prudential Center. It was the first time the Heat (3-1) scored 100 or more points this season and the second game in a row Miami has allowed
fewer than 80 points. The defence of Heat remained very aggressive and played vital role in the victory of the team.
The starting of Heat was very impressive and they jumped out to a 15-4 lead and never looked back until the end of the game.
Even with James "King James” picking up a pair of early fouls, the Heat made 10 of 14 shots (71 percent) in the first quarter, building a double-digit lead less than halfway through the period.
All three Heat stars of Heat, (James, Bosh, Wade) played in a very outstanding way. The Heat's big three were so brilliant converting from the field and getting to the line, they needed only 31 field goals to score 55 points.
LeBron led Heat with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. He continued the game only 29 minutes due to the blowout.
Chris Bosh "CB4,” whose full range scoring the ball was on display and scored 18 points. Bosh said that for him the basket just looked bigger.
Dwyane Wade “Flash” scored 17 points and seven assists for the team.
Mr. James met with both the Nets and the Knicks this offseason before signing with the Heat. After being a part of Heat, he joined fellow stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh and created a group that has developed into the arch enemy of the National Basketball
Association(NBA's) other 29 teams and provided Heats with some great outputs.
Standing “6 ft 2 in,” Carlos Arroyo had 12 points for the Heat, who broke 100 points for the first time and finished at 54 percent from the field. Eddie House of Heat finished with 11 points. Zydrunas Ilgauskas also added 10 points.
The coach of Heat, Erik Spoelstra called on Ilgauskas with just under five minutes remaining in the first quarter. After the instructions from the coach, he went on a personal 6-0 run, an open eighteen-footer, a tip-in, and a layup off a nice feed from James
to extend the Miami lead to 35-18 early in the second quarter. Erik’s call remained a very positive move of the game.
Jamaal Magloire, Mario Chalmers, and Jerry Stackhouse did not score any point for Heats and returned empty handed.
The Nets shot a poor 35 percent (30–85) from the field and had 15 turnovers against Miami’s attacking defense. Nets could not get anything going during the four quarters of the game.
The Heat kept the Nets at bay in the second quarter, stretching the lead to 58-42 at halftime.
Brook Lopez “B. Lopez,” scored 20 points for Nets. Devin Harris and Derrick Favors scored 13 points each. Terrence Deshon Williams “T. Williams” further added 11 points. Morrow and Farmar added 5 points each. Outlaw and Smith did not add even a single point
to the Net’s score.
Although six players of Net did a lot to get, a win but all their efforts went to waste as Heat proved to be stronger.
Nets coach Avery Johnson, while discussing the blowout of the team said, during the course of the year he told his team that they have few games where they are not very good and the match against Heat was one among those, we were not good tonight from the
very start of the game. He further said, “We were stuck in mud; we were stuck in second gear.”
Miami Heat will take on Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at American Airlines Arena, Miami and New Jersey Nets will play its next game against Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Prudential Center, Newark.
