NBA Update: Milwaukee Bucks’ another player out of play
Milwaukee Bucks were already missing two players as they entered a short three game road trip this week. Now suffering from a serious injury, Bucks’ point guard Brandon Jennings is also missing from the trip.
Bucks’ forwards Corey Maggette and Carlos Delfino were already missing from the trip suffering from concussions. Delfino sustained a concussion early in the season, when the Bucks played the Minnesota Timberwolves and has missed the rest of the games since.
Maggette fell and hit his head last Saturday during the Utah Jazz’s visit.
Jennings will miss play for four to six weeks as he recovers from a fracture in his left foot. Earlier, last week, Jennings felt pain playing the San Antonio Spurs but continued to play through it. In the match against Jazz, Jennings got off the court only
after 30 minutes finishing with six points, four assists and three rebounds.
General Manager John Hammond said, "I think it shows you a lot about Brandon, the people who haven't had a chance to watch him in his first year and a quarter, I don't think anyone is going to question his competitive spirit."
Examined after the Bucks’ loss to Jazz, Jennings had a broken bone in his left foot. He broke the outer bone that connects to his little toe. To repair this fracture, Jennings went into surgery today and is hopeful he will be back in play soon.
Replacing Jennings as point guard in the three game road trip is Keyon Dooling. Having already lost to Portland Trail Blazers last night, the Bucks will play Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday and then the Sacramento Kings on Thursday. The other point guard on
the road trip will be Earl Boykins.
Talking about the loss of players and the new point guard, Hammond said, "Most teams try to have three point guards and this is one of the reasons why. It's a combination that we'll move forward with. No one's going to feel sorry for us. We still have a
job to do, that's win every game that we take floor."
