NBA Update: Second Half Analysis: Denver Nuggets vs. Sacramento Kings
The Kings were leading the Denver Nuggets by the end of first half with 14 points, 69-55.
Start of 3rd Quarter
Chauncey Billups missed a jump shot at the very start of the second half for the Nuggets who were already trailing, 55-69. Tyreke Evans pulled up a pull-up jump shot that stretched the lead even further for the Kings, 71-55. Carmelo Anthony made a jump shot
to clinch the Nuggets their first two points of the second half, 57-71. Semih Udrih pulled out a jump shot to gain seven points and Nene Hilario made a layup shot in response to that. Billups received an assist from Shelden Williams to clinch two more at 9:16
in the clock.
Francisco Garcia committed two fouls one after the other and the Nuggets leaped with joy to get hold of both the free throws provided. Anthony took hold of both the free throws and Billups shot a pull-up jump shot to trail a 10 point distance between the
teams, 65-75.
The Kings missed a large number of shots that resulted in the Nuggets just a point behind them on 4:15, 76-77. Nene committed a personal foul with just three minutes left in fourth quarter and the Kings lengthened the lead to three with the free throws given.
End of 3rd Quarter
The Kings led the Nuggets with 10 points by the end of third quarter, 91-81.
Start of 4th Quarter
Following a 10 point advantage in the third quarter, the Kings fuelled up a brilliant final quarter. Carl Landry entering with a layup shot followed by young Chris Andersen’s foul to earned the Kings a free throw. Al Harrington committed a shooting foul
at 10:28 that truncated two free throws out of the Kings, 95-81.
Evans committed a shooting foul that passed Andersen two free throws but still of no use as they were trailing by a large number, 83-102. The lead prevailed and the Nuggets saw a series of missed shots from Billups and Anthony. Evans took advantage of that
and took flee with the ball for the Kings once more. He grabbed a driving layup shot to score 24 and after Arron Afflalo’s foul, he drowned a free throw followed by a layup shot pinned at 5 minutes in the game. The Kings went from 109 to 111 as Udrih reconciled
with the given free throws. The final second minute of the game saw a series of missed shots at the end of the Kings. But the Kings never faltered and soon after that the players clinched some layups and hook shots to fabricate the scores further, 122-102.
