NBA Update: Second Half Analysis: New York Knicks vs. Phoenix Suns
The Knicks led the Suns by the end of first half, 55-45.
Third Quarter
Steve Nash clinched a jump shot at the very beginning of the third quarter for the Suns. Mickael Pietrus committed a defence foul that produced a free throw for the Knicks, which Raymond Felton attempted easily. Wilson Chandler cut a jump shot as Amar’e
Stoudemire gave him an assist to score two more for the leading Knicks. In response to that Pietrus clinched a three pointer shot to chase the Knicks closer, 50-58.
Felton clinched another high three pointer downing 21 points with 8 minutes in final quarter, edging 69-54 over the Suns. Shawn Williams produced two three pointers one after the other to clinch 75-54 for the Knicks. Stoudemire committed a shooting foul
at 5:20 on the clock and Jared Dudley took hold of one of the two free throws given.
Marcin Gortat committed a shooting foul at 2:56 on the clock and Chandler froze both the free throws provided. By doing so he scored nine for himself and 85 for the team.
End of 3rd Quarter
Ronny Turiaf’s layup shot gave the Knicks a sky-high third quarter lead over the Suns, 93-71.
Fourth Quarter
Fields made a bad pass as (Suns) Goran Dragic blocked the ball for them. Bill Walker committed a clear path foul and Dragic gained possession of two free throws for the Suns. Vince Carter missed a three point attempt and Walker rebound the ball immediately
for the Knicks. Chandler’s layup shot made it 95-73 and even harder for the Suns to close it on the Knicks.
The New York Knicks crossed 100 when Walker made a layup shot at 9 minutes left in game, 101-74. The Suns must have felt that they were in deep trouble as they stumbled at that moment. Channing Frye rebound the ball and clinched a jump shot but missed a
three pointer posterior to Toney Douglas’s three pointer.
Felton made a jump shot to make it 110-77 and Josh Childress produced a reverse layup shot to score his first two points for Phoenix, 79-110.
(Knicks) Timofey Mozgov committed a shooting foul that gave the Suns two free throws, making it 85-115. Dudley made a jump shot that closed the deficit to 87-115. Mozgov was replaced by Williams at 3:31 in game that truncated a technical free throw from
Dragic as he made it 88-115 for the Suns. Dragic clinched a three pointer as Dudley gave his teammate an assist to make it 93-117.
End of Game
Lopez’s hook shot made it 96-121 for the Suns as the buzzer rang. The Knicks treasured their third straight win and led the Suns with 25 points.
