The San Antonio Spurs set a franchise record for best start to a season by beating the visiting Golden State Warriors at AT&T Centre in presence of almost 17,000 fans.
Beyond comparison
Six Spurs players scored in double figures, including a team-high 19 and 9 assists off the bench from Tony Parker. George Hill posted 17 and DeJuan Blair added 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Spurs with his third double-double of the season.
Reggie Williams made eight 3-pointers and finished with game-high 31 points for Golden State. Monta Ellis added 19 points and grabbed 6 assists. David Lee contributed 16 points, 6 assists, and 13 rebounds for Warriors.
First quarter
The Spurs played the first quarter fantastically and established a strong base with a 10-point lead, heading into second.
Parker's driving lay-up from the right side stimulated a 16-0 run in the first quarter as the Spurs held the Warriors without a field goal for more than five minutes.
Spur's biggest lead of the quarter was ten points. Parker of Spurs leads all scorers with 9 points.
Second quarter
Both teams posted 28 apiece in the second quarter. Tony Parker led the break while Richard Jefferson threw down the flush in transition.
Tony Parker scored 11 points; DeJuan Blair added a double-double as the Spurs led the Warriors by 10 at the half.
Third quarter
The Spurs limited the Warriors to just 27 points in the third quarter and now led 76-74 heading into the fourth.
Fourth quarter
With less than 5 minutes to go, Williams had a three pointer to cut down the deficit, but Bonner and Quinn further accelerated Spur’s lead with 3-pointers, 111-94.
Spur’s record
It was Spurs' 25th straight home win against the Warriors. Spur’s victory is the longest active streak of its kind for any National Basketball Association’s team against a single competitor and their ninth straight win over the Warriors.
