NBA Update: Thunder snatch victory against Blazers from the jaws of defeat, 110 – 108
What a great match ended at Oklahoma City Arena, where Oklahoma City Thunders smashed Portland Trail Blazer by a difference of just one basket.
Prominent Players
The credit of Thunders’ victory goes to Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant as they sneaked the win under the Blazer player’s nose. Russell scored 36 points, Durant had eight of his 34 during Oklahoma City's decisive run in the final 5 minutes. Serge Ibaka,
Nenad Krstic, and James Harden scored 12 points each.
Brandon Roy tried his level best at Blazer end and had 24 points. Small Forward, Nicolas Batumi scored 21 points and Andre Miller followed them with 19 points and 10 assists.
Turning point
Durant scored the final eight points in a 10-0 run that turned the Thunder's five-point deficit into a 105-100 lead with 1:29 to play. He hit a floater in the lane, followed by a series of three straight jumpers - then ran into flying chest bumps with his
teammates when Portland called timeout.
Game story
Blazers got an energetic start and led Thunders by 6 points at the end of first session. Wesley Matthews provided a spark off the bench with seven points during a 15-3 run late in the first quarter. His three-point on a driving layup put Portland up 35-26
and resulted in the second foul by Durant.
Blazers maintained their lead by 4 points at the end of second session. They further presented themselves in a great manner even in the third part of the game and sustained their lead by three points. Portland sustained a third-quarter charge from the Thunder
before pulling back ahead with a 10-0 run that included Batum's three-point play on a nifty flip in the lane, Fernandez's two-handed dunk on the fast break at the end of the third quarter, and a 3-pointer by Fernandez to start the fourth.
The game was in the hands of Blazers up until the third quarter, from here onwards it was Thunder overtake them in an incredible way and smashed them with 2 points lead by the end of the game.
Quotable
Small Forward/Shooting Guard, Kevin Durant said “We always seem to play one half of good defense. I think if we continue to keep working, we are going to start to put two halves together. But tonight, it was a good win for us and we needed it.”
Congratulations to Thunders and Best of Luck to Blazers for next game.
