NBA Updates – Chicago Bulls defeat the Portland Blazers 110-98

The Portland Blazers were up against the Chicago Bulls this Monday at the United Centre, Chicago. There were around 21,000 fans that came in support of their respective teams to cheer them to victory. The match mostly saw the Chicago Bulls in the lead though
the lead changed 3 times during the 2 hours and 25 minutes of play. But in the end, it was the Chicago Bulls who emerged as the winners with the score 110-98.
1st Quarter
The Portland Blazers was the first to score when Lamarcus Aldridge scored 2 points from the free throw line. For the Chicago Bulls, it was Derrick Rose who scored the opening few points and put the Bulls in the lead.
The Bulls gained confidence and got past the opposing defence every now and then bagging points. The score at the end of the 1st quarter was 32-21 in favour of the Chicago Bulls. The dominating plays saw Loul Deng mostly scoring for the Bulls.
During the course of the quarter, Deng scored 16 points mostly through brilliant lay ups and some from the free throw line. For the Portland Blazers, there was no stand out player and the contribution in points came from Andre Miller who bagged 4 points and
Aldridge who scored 10 points.
2nd Quarter
The 2nd quarter with the Chicago Bulls opening the scoring through Deng through another lay-up shot and taking his personal score to 18 points.
During the course of the quarter, the Bulls saw contribution from Kyle Korver who bagged 6 points and Joakim Noah who scored 6 points who started the season being the number rebounder. The quarter came to end as Deng scored through a jump shot after an assist
from Korver.
For the Portland Blazers, it was Aldridge who continued his game and form from the previous period scoring from every part of the court. Not only did he score, he came up with some splendid assists that saw his team scoring often. At the end of the quarter,
Aldridge took his personal score 20 points Wesley Mattews scoring 5 points. The quarter saw the Portland Blazers score 26 points and the Chicago Bulls score 24 as the period ended 56-47 in favour of the Chicago Bulls.
3rd Quarter
The 3rd quarter started with Keith Bogans scoring for the Chicago Bulls through a splendid 3 pointer. The Portland Blazers responded early on with some resistance shown by Marcus Camby. Camby scored all of the opening 9 points of the Blazers as
they tried to keep up with the Bulls. Brandon Roy also scored 11 points during the quarter to help his team keep in touch with the Bulls.
On the other hand, the Chicago Bulls scored points with all the players bagging points from all around the court. Derrick Rose and Loul Deng were the main scorers during the quarter. The end of the quarter saw Deng finish with 36 points which included 2
superb 3-pointers from long range. Derrick Rose also ended the quarter with 15 points. Derrick Rose’s most impressive shot was a pullup jump shot with 2:45 left to play.
During the quarter, the Portland Blazers scored 26 points and the Chicago Bulls scored 32 points as the quarter ended with the Chicago Bulls leading 88-73.
4th Quarter
The final quarter saw the Portland Blazers come up with a good performance as they got past the opposing defence regularly unlike the previous quarters.
During the course of the quarter, the Bulls saw all the players contributing in assists and score. Derrick Rose ended the night scoring 16 points, Krover ended the night with 11 points after scoring the final 3 pointer of the game and Loul Deng finished
the night scoring an impressive 40 points.
For the Blazers, Aldridge scored 33 points at the end of the quarter followed by Andre Miller who scored 17 points. During the final quarter, the Portland Blazers scored 25 points compared to the 22 points of the Chicago Bulls, as the Bulls won the match
110-98. Loul Deng was the top scorer of the match scoring 40 points during the game.
