NBA Updates – Los Angeles Lakers versus Chicago Bulls (Preview)
The Los Angeles Lakers have currently come up with dominating and superb performances. They have not only dominated and demolished their opposition, they have managed to win on a regular basis and have piled up a winning streak.
This time they are up against the Chicago Bulls and would need all the hard work and domination to continue as this is one of the tricky games.
The Chicago Bulls have emerged as one of the top defensive teams in the NBA season winning 5 of their 6 games. The Los Angeles Lakers are going for their fifth win in a row and are surely in for a tough and competitive battle.
The Los Angeles Lakers dominance can be seen from the fact that the four recent wins that the Lakers have come up with on average have been won by point’s difference of 17.3. The main player for the Los Angeles Lakers recently has been Pau Gasol, who has
come up with impressive performances.
Most recently in the last game against the Golden State Warriors, which the Lakers won 117-89, saw Gasol bag 28 points with a perfect 100% shooting record. This extravagant player scored 10 out of 10 field goals and scored 8 out of 8 free throws. Coupled
with this was the fact that he contributed further with 9 rebounds and 5 assists that helped him become the man-of-the-match.
The Lakers cause is not only helped by Pau Gasol but other players like Matt Barnes and Charles Barkley, who are rising to the challenge and scoring 20 points regularly to further boost the strong Laker offence.
Matt Barnes scored 24 points in the 112-95 victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves this Friday. "Matt told me, 'Welcome to the club,'" Gasol said. "I said, 'Happy to be in there.' It's kind of weird that it happened that way. It's weird, but it's obviously
a good sign".
The Los Angeles Lakers are further helped by the fact that star players like Kobe Bryant were kept on the bench and will be in good shape ahead of their encounter with the Chicago Bulls.
Kobe Bryant despite playing only 26 minutes of the game scored 20 points while Gasol played 30 minutes, which proved to be the difference between the two teams.
Los Angeles led 95-60 after three quarters against the Golden State Warriors and the Coach said,
"It's very important", Jackson told the team's official website. "(The starters) have that reserve (energy) to go to Tuesday night if they need it".
The Los Angeles Lakers led with 112.5 points per game as the most points scoring team in the NBA but they are expected to face a tough time against the much stronger and stable Chicago Bulls side this time out.
The Chicago Bulls are on a 7-4 run currently and will be looking to continue with the winning streak they have maintained recently. The Bulls have allowed 92.7 points to be scored against them in the past six games, which is pretty good.
The Lakers will be hosting the Bulls at the Staples Arena tomorrow. The Bulls have lost the last 4 matches there and six in the series in a row during which, the Los Angeles Lakers have on average scored 107.7 points.
