NBA Updates – San Antonio Spurs win 116-92 against the Cleveland Cavaliers
The San Antonio Spurs played host to the Cleveland Cavaliers this Saturday. The match was played at the AT&T Centre in San Antonio which saw around 17,000 fans come in support of the teams. The match time duration was 2 hours and 2 minutes during which the
lead changed 9 times. The score was tied on 6 occasions during the course of the match.
Both the teams made a great start to the match as they were very strong on the offence. There was great intensity present in both teams which resulted in the score becoming very close as the first quarter came to an end.
Both the teams were content on taking the lead early on so that they could relax during the final stages of the match. The quarter saw both the teams a little weak on the defence.
The quarter ended with the Cleveland Cavaliers leading with the score 29-28.
The 2nd period of the match saw the San Antonio Spurs step up the gas as they grew in confidence from the last quarter.
The defence was still the same for both the sides but the San Antonio Spurs were able to exploit the defence to the fullest. They came up with strong shots and brilliant pieces of play that put them in the lead at the end of the 2nd quarter. The
quarter saw the San Antonio Spurs scoring 36 points while the Cleveland Cavaliers scored 28 points.
The 3rd quarter of the match saw both the teams switch to a defence mode and this dropped the amounts of points scored considerably.
The quarter saw the Spurs scoring 25 points while the Cleveland Cavaliers scored only 18 points. The 3rd quarter witnessed the home team displaying some excellent skill while on the defence. They shut the door completely on the Cavs which left
them out of space and ideas on court. This resulted in the Cavs losing the possession regularly. The quarter ended with the Spurs leading 89-75.
The final quarter of the match was no different from the previous period as the Spurs maintained a very tight defence which restricted the away side to only 17 points in the quarter as the Spurs scored 27 points.
The Spurs won the match as Mo Williams was the top scorer of the match 21 points and Tony Parker became the top scorer for the Spurs with 19 points.
